Replying to Movie: Enter the Void
I searched and was pretty surprised it hasn't been discussed on here yet. Just watched this movie last night on Netflix watch instantly and would highly recommend it to CERTAIN people. I hadn't heard of it before yesterday and never watched the trailer, just read a description and gave it a go.
This summer I read a book (and tons more) about DMT and also read a version of the Tibetan Book of the Dead so I was already interested in death and afterlife. This movie is loosely based on the stages of afterlife/reincarnation and I think it does a very good job of representing bardo, the time after death and before next birth. I won't explain much more because I really enjoyed watching it not knowing much at all about it other than a short description, so I wouldn't recommend reading reviews or watching any clips from the movie.
It's definitely not for everyone though, especially not the majority of NS'ers. The film is not rated and contains a lot of nudity/sex as well as drug use and some disturbing images. It's not short either at just over 2 hours and 20 minutes, but if you truly understand the concept and artistic creativity it won't seem drawn out at all. If you know for sure, however, that you're not too interested and don't want to watch the entire thing, I'd definitely suggest watching it for about 13 minutes for some really stunning visuals (it might change your mind about watching the whole thing too).
All in all it's a film unlike any other I have seen and one I'll remember for some time.
