jessica warll is progessing womens skiing and is killing it soo hard, reppin for blue mountain in ontario
I am really excited to see so many people encourging women to improve in the park. There's a lot of talent out there, and it's really overcoming sexism to see people want women to progress rapidly. It's lacking, though for there to be so much dogging on women tho as tho they suck. Can't women be free to ski at whatever level they are at? Whether we're throwing 720s off the biggest jumps in the park, 270s on C-boxes, or working on our spins and grabs to take to bigger jumps, it helps progress the sport if women are encouraged to make the progress they want to see in their own skiing, and see where they can go with it. If you aren't willing to practice and get beyond a the level you're at now, and get those "low-level" tricks any woman may be working on, who's to say how you'll ever go farther or realize you're capable of more? More support for women wherever they're at in the progression helps with more support for women who are at the forefronts of it because it backs the progress, creates enthusiasm, and helps keep pushing it up. With so few women in the sport, the more that feel good about the lil' (or big) spins they're throwing, and the progress, however great or slight they're making, the better they will understand, take interest in, and thrive off of the progress and accomplishments of the best women skiers out there.
I used to hit 60' jumps in my mid teens, then had some bad falls and quit jumping for a while, getting into rails.
Gymnastics - you know they say that the change of your center of gravity when you grow hips makes women more stable on rails and less balanced in the air than when they were younger? What is the trick to growing up, growing out, and getting skills to come along with the body changes? I wonder if there are differing techniques taught in gymnastics when women go through these changes.
By the way, there are a lot of things women can do to prevent ACL injuries by practicing safe technique and toning their bodies up for what they love to do.
