So what country do you think has the most class? My co-worker says the U.S. (we are from the U.S.) but I am not sure if I agree with him. What do you think?
I love the US and ill admit that we are nowhere near the classiest. though there is no way i would want to live in the classiest country, thats just asking to be surrounded by douche bags.
Italy is not classy at all... I have no idea why you are all saying it. Its practically second world. Someone even said Greece which is the complete opposite of classy. Realistically out of everywhere I have been it has to be between Germany and England. Everyone in Germany is smart as shit and everything is super clean and modern (same with Belgium and Luxembourg). England is old and the people are pretty nice.
you should try our "trapist" brown beers, especially the westvleteren "trappist" beer is godly, its limited (every person can buy max 6 bottles) and its been crowned best beer in the world several times :)
To the people who say Vatican City you are wrong. I've been there, it's nothing special. Especially compared to almost anywhere else in (southern) Italy.
Luxembourg is so incredibly in the hole, if they stopped spending it would still take them 40 years to get out of debt.
Id go with the Scandinavian countries, Norway, Sweden, Finland. Maybe France, I've met nice people from Spain, and possibly Austria. The swiss people I know are so snooty, its ridiculous.
Switzerland. Super beautiful place--also, not only do they make the best chocolate in the world, but they consume the most, per capita, in the world: 25.6lbs per person per year! And, as said above, they're neutral. Haven't ever been, but it's definitely on top of my list.
Funny thing about language, people can say things that are completely true but be false simultaneously due to different interpretation of the same words.
no country is truly classy, there is crime and shitty people everywhere
I would have to say monaco is classiest. the reason it beats vatican city is because vatican city is infested with tourists and a crazy amount of pick-pockets. higher crime rate per-capita there than any other country (due to no real residents other than priests, and tons and tons of pickpocketing)
Off the top of my head: The majority of French people I have met were rude. They don't have the dirtiest cities in the world, but definitely not clean enough to put them at the top of the "classiest" list. Half of the year the whole country is on strike, and they are notoriously racist.
I've been to Monaco a few times, it's a very nice place. Lovely marina side restaurants and a wide range of shopping for most people. The casino is also very nice. Not to mention they turn the town into a formula 1 race track during the Monaco GP. Definitely a classy place.
It'll be hard to beat any of these small nations when it comes to class. My vote would go to Liechtenstein, it's mountainous and beautiful, probably the cleanest place I've ever been in. A bit more conservative than monaco, but I like it. :)
In Norway we definitely don´t regard Sweden as "classy". Its just a place where the less classy norwegians go to buy cheap bacon and beer, which they often smuggle in huge amounts back to Norway.
Of the places i´ve been to, I must say Monaco, parts of England and some parts of France.
