Salomon Quest 12 v. Salomon Impact 110

So I tried on both of these boots today, and both were pretty comfortable. I also tried some Lange RX 100s that were comfy too.

Anyone riding the Quest having any of the durability issues that I am seeing so much of whenever I do some googling and research on them? The guys over at TGR have an 8 page thread, where the beginning is pretty positive for the Q12s, but they are having some quality issues, and heel lift in the back of the boot as well.

The Impacts and RXs felt good too, so if you  guys have any experiences, lemme know.

You will hear the same here about the quest, broken buckles and shell damage

Yeah, I have heard they have some shitty shells and wicked durability issues going on.

I have Quest 10s and I'm always a bit afraid of all the problems people have had, really no way to know what's coming.  Based on all the reviews your seeing(when I got mine there were few people who'd complained) NOW, know what your risk is buying them.

Impact 10s and Quest 10s should fit similar I think, Impacts don't have all the same problems, and don't have a tour mode, so if that doesn't matter get Impacts.  I don't know about the Lange boot.  It'd be best to just decide if you wanna risk it with Quests, or get one of the other kinds, and talk to the boot fitter if you're getting one of the other two.

I'd suggest the lange rxs, 120 if you wanted the quest 12, but they fit pretty different the the quests. narrower last, higher instep. if you like the salomon fit, you could try the ghost, same sort of idea as the quest but not for touring.

I tried on all three boots and the Impacts felt like they fit my forefoot well and I had minimal heel travel. I could always spend time and $ getting them right, but I would like to start at as close to perfect as I could. Haha.

I just can't seem to find any reviews on the Lange RX 100s. All the Impact reviews are great however.

The shell damage on the second page was from a super light day of skiing.

^ Yeah, seems like all I can find on the Q12's is that they have durability issues. I don't doubt they are a good boot, and they were very comfortable, but I don't want to have to deal with durability.

Probably will get the Impact 10 or RX 100
