gay marriage

i dislike homophobia and cant stand discrimination against gay people. im all for civil unions, and possibly even gay marriage, except for one thing.

gay marriage means that adoption is easier. i just dont feel that gay couples make as good parents. theres exceptions, of course. also having gay parents can be traumatizing to a child because lets face it, middle and high school would be much harder.

theres plenty of exceptions to what ive said, i know that there are lots of gay couples that would make fine parents. its a difficult subject. but the old argument that 'marriage is between a man and a woman' is just conservative bullshit.

the only problem with gays i've ever had was their parade when they make out with each other and stuff. you don't even see straights doing that. but if you hate gays, you're a bad person. there is no feesable reason to hate them because all of the bullshit about nature and god is completly unusable. so many have said 'well its not natural' or 'its not what god intended', well last time i checked, no one here really cared about the nature of humans or god. all you homophobics are just as bad as the white supremists, and for this, i hate you.

Eh, i respect them as people, I mean, I can sit down and have a normal convo with a gay person, if they are respectable and keep their sexuality to themselves. Its people that stand and wave signs, and wear penis's on their shirt that make me mad.

Homosexuality is unnatural? Then... What is natural?

1. Part of existence; contrast between the natural and the supernatural
-Moral and immoral acts are natural. The natural world excluding humanity. In this case, Homosexuality is unnatural, but so is the alternative.
2. That which is Normal
Leads to mean commonly accepted, which doesn't mean 'right' or 'moral'. Also, homosexuals aren't the majority, but are common throughout history.
3. Having to do with the physical world
-Pertains to the distinction between the physical and the mental. Not particularly relevant
4. Present or existing from birth
-ie: natural hair colour. Evidence states that this is the case with homosexuality.
5. That which works
-Pragmatic definition; does it function. Procreation comes into play. However, by this token, sex must be unnatural in any way that does not produce children. Procreation is not the only function of sex. If pleasure is justifiable, then it should be so in all cases
6. That towards which we are inclined
-Not relevant, we are inclined towards both moral and immoral acts
7. Conformity with the laws of nature
-No laws of nature are broken through homosexuality, but the same is true of all immoral acts; therefore not relevant. For you geniuses out there that want to argue with this, laws of nature refers to things like the law of gravity.

Overall.. arguing that gay marriage is unlawful is in turn like arguing that 19 century black slavery is moral. People are just uncomfortable with homosexuality and have religious issues, and these people are the majority, and the majority always gets the vote, so thats why gay marriage is not legal.

If we're going to get rid of gays for being 'unnatural' we might as well get rid of all the people in the world who were born with any kind of disability. Whether its a mental retardation or bad eyesight, it doesn't really matter, its just not natural.

Im not trying to say homosexuality and disabilites are the same, Im saying they are both things you can be born with. Therefore, they are both 'natural,' and if you argue that theres no such thing as being born gay, you are a moron. Someone who is born gay is programmed to be attracted to those of their same sex, and they can't help that. A gay man can't just wake up one day and decide 'Im going to only like women from now on,' he was born to be attracted to men. If you think Im wrong I want you to wake up tomorrow and see if you can only be attracted to men, I guaruntee you, you can't.

I think that homosexualityis immoral and wrong due to my beliefs as a Christian. In the Bible God condems homosexualtity as an abomination. I do not think that gay marriage should be legal due to the fact that marriage is primarily of a christian origin. However, I do believe in the elimination of the 'loss of rights' that represent the gap between civil unions and marriage. I would let the gays have their rights as comperable to those of marrige with the exclusion of the ability to adopt. This way gays get their rights and no longer have grounds to bitch and the practice of religion is not turned into a deviant practice. Again, I do not believe that gays should be able to adobt due to the number of straight couples who are having trouble going through the adoption red tape. I am not a homophobe and I do not hate gay people, but I do believe that a significant aspect of their life is terribly askewed. I am fine with gay people as long as I don't have to hear them talk about that aspect of their life.

Whatever they do with their own lives is their own businesses, not ours. US laws is still based on christianinty, so homosexuals gets lot of shit from those closed-minded people. This is turning into a religious battle.

Gay marriage is obviously only comparable to one aspect of the civil rights movement (mixed coupling). If you're comparing the struggle, or their initial oppression, then certainly they've been different. However, any arbitrary discrimination is comparable to any other; one cannot say 'it's worse to hate blacks because they're black than it is to hate gays because they're gay'. To do so would truly be 're freaking diculous'.

As long as Gay people keep to themselves who cares if theyre married or not? They should be allowed to marry if they love each other.To me, the whole idea of homosexuality is gross but i do have gay uncles and i respect them because they are perfectly normal people they just happen to be attracted to the same sex. I dont care if they get married or not and they should be allowed to have children if they want to. Canada is a free country and therefore people should be allowed to choose who they like and who they want to marry,whatever sex that person might be of. Homophobia is a form of racism and should be discouraged. Black,white,asian,gay,straight,bisexual, were all human beings and thats all that matters. If gay people had a history of say child molestation or rape then they should not be allowed to marry because they would be a threat to public safety but hey, if two guys want to have sex in their own house and not bother anyone, they should be allowed to.

for me, the real issue here is not weather homosexuality is right or wrong. its not weather they should enjoy the same rights as a heterosexual couple. what it has to do with is the growing trend that is spear headed by progressive judges generally found on the 9th circut, and 'civil rights' groups like the aclu who want to make moral realitivism the prevailing standard in out nation. if there were civil unions for homosexual couples that had identical rights and benefits to a marrige, that would be fine and dandy. go for it. but what is happening is the gradual re-defining of america. this is just one example. (insert smart comment about the re defining of the civil rights of the 60's here... we already know that we arnent talking about anything in the same ball park as that.)

it makes no more sense than if i decided to press a suit to be recognized as a girl. i dont feel its appropriate or fair that i should have to undergo surgery to be a girl. i would like admittance to all womens restrooms, all womens organizations, dressing rooms, etc. im sure the aclu could represent me. i just dont feel it is right that i have to be confined to the definition that society has labled me with. (insert smart comment about how i was born a male, and people arent born gay here... and that is entirely up for debate, as there is no concrete evidence one way or the other)

marriage is DEFINED as a union between a man and a woman. just like the talmud is a book of hebrew scripture. just like i am typing in the english language. it is how it is.

let them have equal rights, but dont distort or profane an instution that for many is absolutly sacred and holy and unavailable for change.

first of all, i know gays, and before i was aware or their orientation, i wouldnt have known. religion cannot interfere with politics, because it is not fact and therefore cannot be used to base everything apon, especially if it is one single religion. P-JO, it is simple fact that old traditions make way for the new. That is how society progresses. There is no longer enough support for your argument anymore. If you were to have the same arguement 15 years ago you would almost definatly win, but society has changed, people are drifting further away from faith and religion and nature is becoming more obscure and abstract as each day passes.

Do you think about your parents having sex? no, why? because its unpleasant, so why the hell are any of you thinking about the type of sex that gay people have. If you're so disgusted by it, why even think about it? Old people having sex with eachother is unpleasant as well, but no one's banning them from doing it. The type of sex that gay people have shouldn't sway people's opinions, because that's a private issue, that you have no business dealing with.

Alright, well then leave marriage as the old relic and have the gays start something new, yet leave marriage as it is alone. They can have the same rights as marriage, but it will not be marrige because marriage is between a man and a woman.

Marriage, what is it but a bind of 2 individuals that has become corrupt and means almost nothing anymore. 50% of marriages end in divorce in the U.S. and people are complaining that gays shouldn't marry because marriage is a sacred vow. That is complete and utter bullshit. Every statement made against gays could easily be nullifyed because of the hypocritical corrupt society we live in.
