Just starting college searching and it blows. I know a major isn't 100% necessary right from the start but some ideas of good majors plus a job that follows that are things to think about. What is your major and what job are you pursuing?
Petroleum engineering here in montana. Salary starts out at 85k+ and placement is almost 100% annually. Only problem is they're arn't many oil fields in the mtns.
Political science because I find it very interesting. I don't know at all what I want to do later on, but here are some fields such as foreign affairs that may tempt me.
Took it because it's a pretty sweet industry. I've worked some live sports events, it's such a fun experience. Really good money, and you get to travel if you want. So with that background, I went into the course to become a broadcast engineer.
The money is in computers, anything with computers whether that is software engineer, network security...companies pay big bucks for people who know how to make their technology run smooth and know how to fix it when it breaks.
integrated engineering - get a job that pays, ski all over the place. Help make sustainable energy the standard. Don't get over-specialized so I can do a variety of jobs
Geographic Information Systems & Spatial Analysis... already graduated and I got into it because of many reasons but also the technology we have developed in the past decade is insane and the technology that is in the works and going to be real in the near future is mind blowing. I get to do work with some technology that a very small amount of people have access to.
and... I am taking that stuff because I have always been into it, so why not try and make money off things i enjoy? I will not be bill gates, but hell, I would feel like i never have to work a day in my life, I just get paid to do my hobby.
Environmental Science and French... I don't know how I am going to apply these to life, but coming out of High School they where the things I had most credits in and a few years later I am stuck with it.
majoring in Finance but in the Army ROTC program soooo i guess for 4 years after i get out of college that finance stuff means nothing, but then id like to start makin bank
my dad is a petroleum engineer and he doesnt make that much. also the job market is fucking terrible here in PA. poor choice on my dads part i guess on picking his major regarding where we live
im thinking pharmacy? anyone have any comments?
and i hate physics so should i pretty much cross out anything to do with engineering off of my list?
if you want to go into pharmacy and don't like physics i would suggest chemical engineering. You only have to take 2 physics classes, the basic and then magnetic/electricity, its not bad at all. I am thinking about doing pharmacy myself
majored in finance...i worked as a bank teller in college and enjoyed it, figured i might as well take the next step. i also just wanted to make a lot of money.
A.S. in Media Comm. so I can have avenues to filming, marketing, HRM, etc. B.S. in Business Administration because....ummm.. I thought it would be a good degree to get..and eventually get the M.B.A. I'm minoring in Athletic Coaching because I love soccer and coaching it would be awesome because I'm super competitive but I'll only be able to play for so long. Still couldn't give an example of exactly what I want to do though.
Premed, majoring in psychology since its intriguing to me also you don't need a specific science major for premed (win). looking into being a surgeon or psychiatrist, not sure which yet.
biomedical engineering, and i absolutely love it.. initially it was just cause i wanted to be in the medical field, liked math and science, and wanted to make a ton of money
Full Sail is supposed to be pretty sick, not sure if they have grad. programs but I know a couple people who went there and are doing quite well. Sucks it's in Florida but I've heard good shit about them
