Your major and why

Just starting college searching and it blows. I know a major isn't 100% necessary right from the start but some ideas of good majors plus a job that follows that are things to think about. What is your major and what job are you pursuing?

corporate finance and accounting is going to be my major, and i might minor in global perspectives. i know that if i have an accounting degree, i'll always have a secure job, but i have no intention of working in a firm such as ernst and young to be an internal auditor forever. i'd really like to own my own company, or maybe work within the ski industry, but i need to make some money out of college to do that. i just really like the flexibility of CFA.

start in the fall at Champlain College majoring in environmental policy. I'm hoping to move out west and work for a ski resort advising them on better ways to go green and stuff like that. I wanted to get into the environmental field without getting to sciency

i agree with that, but i'm not a planner. i'll address the issue when it presents itself or when i have to. econ is a pretty general degree, so i'm not really gonna be limited.

computer science. Because i didn't realize how fucken hard it was going to be when i started. Hopefully I'll be able to start a website or develop a couple droid/iphone applications for income while i ski bum around for the next 10-20 years. Or at least do contract jobs from home. All I really know is I don't want to end up with an office job

History with a minor in classical studies. Anyways, the reason I chose history is I desire to understand what is means to be human, and master the human condition (well, as much as that might be possible.); and I believe history is the best possible way for me to achieve this goal.

Tourism Management, not sure what i wanna do with it yet but there are tons of opportunities that i never knew existed till i got to university.

I don't want a desk or office job, want to travel, meet new people, learn about other cultures and all that exciting stuff.

still got 2.5 years to figure out what the fuck i wanna do. just taking a wide range of tourism classes to see what interests me.

Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I plan on getting my PhD and going into research with invasive plants. I care a lot about preserving the environment, and want nothing more than to be outside as much as possible with my life. It will also give me the opportunity to travel the world on grants conducting research in different places.

advertising with double minor in marketing and creative writing. advertising = business major without as much math, plus my school has the 8th best advertising program in the nation. oh, and creative writing as a minor to hopefully get some creative outlet at work.

English, with an emphasis in creative writing. I'll probably end up teaching poetry at a community college, but that's a number of years and an MFA down the road.

For now, I just shave down peoples' egos by correcting their spelling and grammar while working in a terrain park.

Finance with lots of econ. Econ is just awesome, always good to know, good for business. Finance is if I decide to go to grad school I hear it's good to have a degree in finance plus I like math (ever since I started taking calc this quarter, took it in HS and wasn't too interested). I'll start my own business after school, or possibly go to grad school, although if I get an MBA I want some job experience first.

Business Administration with a double focus on Marketing/ Public Relations and Advertising. I love every second of it. If you can communicate well with people.... this is a great avenue to purse. With marketing you do so many things that interest you. After i graduate next December i believe i might be heading out to Colorado to start a sports management masters.

I really want to be involved in the sports world, and promotion to me is UBER SICK! Hopefully i will some day have that dream job in skiing or baseball

Zoology major. Possibly a double major with primatology.

In the future I hope to be researching animal behaviour in the field and how increased human interaction is affecting this. Basically hoping for as much time spent living and working in the field as possible and the chance to travel to places I would never be able to get to as a tourist. Ideally I could be living and breathing my research all spring - fall and then ski all winter but that's not likely to happen.

bachelor of science in kinesiology (human kinetics)

no idea what the fuck i want to do with it, but i was always good at math, physics, physiology, anatomy, and dont want to be a doctor, so i figure that was at least a start. im thinking i was to do something sports related, like worth with athletes and designing new equipment and being the human interface expert, but it's a tough thing, finding a career. how cool would it be to work a ski company and helping develop and research new, innovative ways to improve bindings and skis..
