Whats a good ski pole length?

I've been told a shorter pole is best for freestyle skiing. I want to know from you guys how short is too short and how short is just right

Your gonna wanna use jr. poles for maximum steez. haha seriously though it depends on your height.

how tall are u, no one can decide a pole lengt for u if we dont kno ur hight.

but i uaslly go with them being just able to stick in the ground, while ur hand is fully around the grip, and ur standing straight and tall. for freestyle.

Actually im 187cm and my poles are 100cm

If your poles are too short you'll have problems when u need speed or w/e. Actually I choose my poles this way: If you can use them as a cane? i think cane is an english word? anyway

I'm 6'3" and i'm using 44" poles. They're a little bit long for my liking but they get the job done. If i were you i'd go a little shorter then 40". My thoughts: don't spend to much cash on poles cause you can bend them easily and you don't want to drop to much cash on something your gonna bend.

yea I definitely was gonna spend much. I've been hittin up some goodwills but havent found any poles yet

im 5'8 and i have 42s for park and pow but im gonna cut like 3 inches off prob

I'm 6'2" and my park poles are like 34", pretty short, I can hold the tops of my poles and can barely touch the ground with them, just the way I like it.  It's really all personal preference, but I like it cause they don't get in the way when I fall, and it's less to worry about when landing switch and going for grabs. Just buy a pair and cut them down to where you like it, try them out at different lengths.  Remember you can always cut more off a pole, but you can't add back on.

turn the pole upside down and put your hand just under the basket. your elbow should ideally make a 90 degree angle. most people like the shorter because they dont really use them and shorter ones are steezier. i personally can not ski without poles but i still find that if they are a little short ( if ur elbow is slightly more than 90 degrees) it works better for me and is more comfortable.

Waste area is nice, not huge but better than having extremely short ones that mean alot of work to get speed with
