this. I dunno if anyone watched the world juniors were Russia raped Canada and some of the canadians wouldn't even shake the medal bearers hands. and in FIFA playoffs almost everyone cries and flipps outt when they lose a game.
just because it's skiing everyone is supposed to be super chill and just soo siked about someone else getting a medal. freeskiing (from what i hear) might even be in the olympics soon (which will be huge for any skiier who gets to go and just freeskiing in general) so to decide who gets to go to them, its probably gunna be whoever gets best results in huge comps like X games. Bobby Brown is supposed to be like a hero for us because he is young enough and good enough to be in the next olympics. I can't even think about how much pressure he has on him right now to get amazing results in comps. Not getting a medal for a competition one year at one event is one thing. Not getting a medal then not going to the first Olympics in freeskiing ever is another.
Also we think these skiiers are so chill because we see them in these edits and movies when theyre having the time of their lives. Would you ever be mad once if you got a pretty much free trip to fucking heli untouched pow for a few weeks? or if you found the illest urban set up and you just seshed it all day because you don't need to go to school or the office? No. these pros can't all be fucking goon ass stoners who are always happy. we just see them at their best. so peoples should stop fucking hating on simon and any other pro for that matter. you guys should stop hating on being competitive. being competitve and pissed when they lose will probably just make them work harder to do better next year.
Sorry for the rant. Had to be said
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but while sitting on a sofa watching these guys compete it is easy to neglet the physiological stress they are under: with the amount of adrenaline and other hormones flowing through their veins, they are pretty much in "fight or flight" mode, so of course they are going to seem emotional at the end of a run!!!! It is (mostly) adaptive for these atheletes to have this high level of intensity: physical, mental, emotional and otherwise.
