Hike accessible skiing near breck

I'm thinking about visiting a friend in Breck for spring break
and lift tickets are ridiculously expensive... so I was thinking
maybe skiing two days at the resorts then trying to do some hiking...

anybody know nearby locations that would be fun?

somewhere within resort boundaries cause you have no bc equipment or knowledge. it will cost alot for SAR to find, then haul your corpse down.

How do you know that he doesn't have equipment or knowledge? I hate that everybody here assumes that whenever somebody asks a question like this they have zero experience with anything similar

dude skis in maryland. what are the odds he has good knowledge on the subject of the western snowpack, and the many dangers? let alone beacon shovel probe partner.

odds are he thinks he can literally bootpack around and find the goods somewhere.

Also it is pretty safe to assume that they dont know much about the BC if they have to ask NS.com about it...

DO NOT GO OUT OF BOUNDS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE PROPER KNOWLEDGE AND EQUIPMENT

that being said peak 6 has some nice looking stuff, though i've never skied it, and the avalanche danger can be quite substantial

summit county is one of the most dangerous places on the planet to just "hike around". avy danger is through the roof, particularly wherr no control work is done. do yourself a favor and steer clear unless youre savvy with reading snow pack and whatnot.

Just got Avy Level I certified. CO is the dangerous place in North America for Avalanches.

Peak 6 is good like that dude said, but you need a lift ticket to get there.

I know some places but if your friend "lives" here and is experienced he should know 'em. Sorry dude... just trying to save your life. Too many deaths this year.

I totally agree that I have not had experiences dealing with bc and avalanches.
I also agree that I do not have the equipment because that shit is expensive.

that being said, I am not a fucking idiot. I guess I should have worded the
question differently asking if there were any places that are safe and easy.
Just something fun, doesn't have to be big or insane. I guess I was thinking maybe there
would be cross country skiing trails somewhere nearby with off trail tree skiing...
i don't know..

op, i'm sure you could poke around and find some low angle low consequence stuff somewhere, but for the most part, areas steep enough to ski and trees spaced well enough to ski have avalanche danger. Without the ability to judge if that risk is worth it or not (knowledge) or gear i would say stay in bounds

you can do laps on loveland pass, or just build a booter somewhere. just drive around, youll find something fun.

Just curious if you're aware how many people have died in Loveland Pass this year?

Colorado is the highest in North America for Avalanche Deaths because of places like Loveland Pass... it's accessible for anyone, therefor every joe shmo thinks he can just go "do laps" on loveland pass.

agreed. if your buddy doesnt know where to go and he is a local, dont even leave the boundaries. enjoy one of the the best park in the world my friend. no need to go BC at breck.
