talk about the north atlantic current. people see the day after tomorrow as an entertaining film, or somewhat, but the facts behind it arent complete bullshit. the current runs on a constant flow/balance of salt and freshwater. with the increase in global temperature the arctic ice caps are pouring a huge amount of freshwater into the currents path, which could seriously change the current if not shut it down completely. seeing as said current controls water temps and weather patterns on the entire atlantic coastline, it could be a pretty big deal. if this current does shut down, global warming could possibly send us into the next ice age. granted its not going to happen the day after tomorrow, but over the course of a couple hundred years. theres plenty of good info on it, google the shit out of it
