People take too much for granted..

The other day my good friend's arms and legs suddenly went numb at night. They took him to the hospital and they got the feeling back to his arms but his legs are still unusable. He was diagnosed with Transverse Metylitis and there's a 50/50 chance he'll be able to walk again. The odds of getting this disease are 1 and a million. He such a optimistic kid and it's so uncharacteristic to see him down like this. This was kid who definitely could have played soccer in college and had a bright future. Then all of sudden lost feeling in his legs. Give this kid some vibes and count your blessings guys.

Vibes coming your way. But the fact that people take too much for granted is totally true. For the last 15 years of my life, I have lived in hell. My mom was an alcoholic, my dad was too much of a pussy to do anything about it, my brothers and sisters all followed my mother's hate towards me, etc. I had to support myself essentially, I had a job, (ski shop, the discounts is what made me able to still ski.) I did my own laundry, etc. One day, my mom had just had it with me. She sent me away, made my grandparents come and get me, and just left me in a town in NY until I was picked up. Happy ending, I live with my grandparents now and live a much happier life but seriously, just step back for a second, and look at what you have. I appreciate any little thing that comes my way, whether I like it or not. I wish more people would just be this way, but sadly you have the arrogant pricks who pretty much have their life paved out for them because of their parents. No hate, I just wish they would appreciate work and what they have.

hope he gets better so that he can go out and kill it on the football field. Playing football since I was 3, I can't even imagine having the chance to play college and this happen. ++vibes++

honestly i look at you differently and appreciate you more, +k, and that being said people taking shit for granted its inevitable we hit some lows, but just remember people have it worse and they aren't bitching about it like you are. (not you poonslayer, anyone)

I completely agree with you OP. When I was between 8-11 my dad went to rehab twice for his alcoholism and relapsed both times. Parents got divorced because of it and my dad got an insane girlfriend who I absolutely hated. I kind of just accepted things the way they were and got used to them for the time being. I hated going to stay with my dad because he was always drunk so I just stopped living with him and lived full time with my mom. Freshman year of high school my dad ended up passing away because of liver and kidney failure, which in turn led his whole body to pretty much shut down. People need to look at what they have and really appreciate things. I learned the hard way and now I appreciate all of the things that I am presented with in my life.

++++++ vibes man. I also know thats you shouldn't take your loved one's/friend's lives for granted. I two of my closest cousins in an avalanche we were caught in. And just this year one of my best friends OD on heroin. I had no idea he had a problem, nor did anyone else. I even called him the night before. And I had to give the eulogy at his funeral. And to top it all off I'm not supposed to live to be 30 with a heart disease that is getting worse. so im trying to go what I can in the time I have left here to make the best of what I have left.

i think that people take too much for granted until everything is taken from them. that has a funny way of making you look at life in a different light.

+vibes for your friend. there are some amazing things happening in medicine these days, so a 50% chance that he will recover is better than nothing. the cup is half full.

Man I hope so much that your friend's alright. Its a really sad thing to see good people suffer like that.

Life goes on though, the beautiful thing about it is that there's no limit to what you can do. Life takes and gives, and some people give up far too easily. Look at Josh Dueck - a damn good skier, hit a jump one day and got paralyzed waist down. This past winter though, he podiumed at the paralympics. There's 2 ways to look at the shittiest stuff life throws at you - it can be the end, or a new opportunity.

Life's too important to waste, don't go through a day without doing the best you can and keep your head up no matter what.

Damn, that's rough.  I'd be devastated if it were me.

Not the time or place but: L-O-fucking-L at people sending "vibes" over the internet.  Every time I see people sending "vibes" I just chuckle to myself, just thought I'd actually say it's stupid this time around.  I mean say something, not just "++++++VIBES!!!!" It just sounds kinda retarded, like the person in need is somehow going to be better off cause you said "+vibes" in a thread.  I equate it with religion/praying, which is utter nonsense.
