Building a jump in a graveyard-morally wrong?

So, at my school, there's this graveyard on a decently steep hill (for Connecticut.) At the bottom of the hill, there's this man-made canal about 15 feet wide. We're thinking of building a jump right before the edge of the canal so we could gap it. Wouldn't be too big of a jump, but we might be able to throw a 5, possibly a front-flip if we're lucky.

However, a couple of our other friends think its disrespectful to build a jump in a graveyard. Our retaliation is that we're not doing any harm to the graves or the land-we're just moving snow around.

Any thoughts?

the only thing i see wrong with it is if anyone is there mourning someone, i doubt they would be to stoked on you guys being there even if your not doing anything,

would kinda be a werid feeling for me. but as long as your not kocking the tombstones with your skis or anything and just skiing on the paths between the graves. cause if its anything like the italian cemetary in san francisco you would be shot by the mob. my grandma and the rest of my moms family is buried there and everything is solid marble. just to open the tombs to add a urn or something costs like $1500. just respect the families and think how you would feel if you saw some random kid skiing and goofing around, having fun on your mom, brother, husbands or wifes grave.

I remember one time I was sessioning a little graveyard booter with one of my good friends and a funeral procession, hearse and all, drove by. That was slightly awkward... here we were in our bright baggy ski outerwear jibbing around while they were conducting a funeral dressed all in black. After a few minutes we packed it up and left out of respect. On a normal day though we usually would shred the boneyard up with no hesitation. We always made sure to stay away from any of the graves so I see no problem.

the only real problem is if it you got caught. like on a normal street its one thing but in a graveyard the dude catching you might get real pisseed

It's not about how you feel, you're dead, obviously you wouldn't even know.  Would your family enjoy seeing that done to you?  That's pretty much the amount of disrespect you're showing.  By skiing on the cemetery, it's lacking any sort of respect for what lies beneath and the boundaries specifically set by the cemetery.  You don't see them digging graves in the middle of your terrain park.  It's not made for you, so stay out.  That's my opinion.

Yea, they are dead, but it still is a little disrespectful. I mean, your family probably wouldnt want someone stomping jumps on your grave... Just build a jump somewhere else? Theres millions of other places to build one

i would be honored if you jumped over my grave and ride away like a G, yeah ill be standing up on my grave as a ghost and my hands in my pocket nodding you off. ive always thought of doing this but same time it does SEEM disrespectful but, id do it.

Some local snow boarders in Canada were riding in a graveyard and acctually got charged for it. They got a small fine or something. I dont think its worth the hassel.

look at it this way. if you asked some person if they thought it was disrespectful to shred in a graveyard, they would probably say yes. but if you asked them if you could shred on their personal grave, i bet most people wouldnt care.

essentially, i think people get pissed FOR other people. if that makes any sense...

obviously offending the dead people is not what you have to worry about but if a family member comes and you are skiing on their mother/fathers grave you might have to worry about offending them because if someone skied on a grave of my relative i would be pissed

I would say go for it. As many have said before, I would love to have a gravestone that could be used as some sort of jib haha. I also would want to be buried wearing all my ski shit, would be hyphy as fuck.

Treating a place where people have laid the people they love the most to rest, and where they've installed permanent monuments to honor their memories like a playground for you to amuse yourself in is completely fucked up.

Show some respect for the living, have some class and common decency, and ski elsewhere.
