At my school it's called campus life, only problem is half the kids go out and get fucked up on the weekends, then preach during the week.

Let alone the fact that they pray in a circle around the flag pole every morning. The flag pole which is at the front of our public highschool, where I have to drive in and see every day.

heres the usual rundown of our weekly meetings (first club of the year for me is tonight. STOKED!!): sing some pop songs acoustic style, wacky games (putting a pair of pantyhose over your head then eating pudding, drinking soda thru someone elses dirty sock, etc), some chilled out christian songs, then a leader usually does a sermon. i say try it out for sure, go to one club. if you don't like it, you don't have to go again. YL has changed my life sooo much. not just the religious aspect of it but the friends that i've made are ones i'll stay in contact with for the rest of my life.


sparknotes: its fucking awesome. try it out. you have nothing to lose.

My experience is that it was all of the popular sheeple at my school. They would go to someone's basement every wednesday and do skits and whatnot. Then before everyone wrapped it up and went home or to Wendy's or whatever, they read a solitary bible verse and maybe made a comment or two about it. Basically tossed in there as an afterthought.

you have to understand that just because they are christian doesnt mean that they are all going to be perfect. Now if they were getting mad at you for drinkin on the weekends then id be pissed, but you have to realize that everyone has their flaws

I forgot, I really don't approve of the whole selling your religion through fun and games thing. It draws kids in and they just get sucked up into the church aspect of it. A couple friends of mine joined and became pretty self righteous and stopped hanging out with our usual group.
With that said, if you're religious. Right on! but what I can't stand are those that were out and out athiests and all of the sudden became devout christians(it's a HUGE fad at my school).

yeah, i understand where you're coming from. i'm semi-religious (i go to church like once a month and on major holidays), but i don't go to yl so much for the religios aspect as i do friends. like i said in my earlier post i've met people thru younglife that i'll keep in touch with for the rest of my life.

This is exactly word for word what we did.

The whole idea of younglife is a little odd. But they definitely don't force you to be Christian. I rarely ever go to church and go to younglife because it's a fun time with a bunch of cool people from my school. The whole dynamic of it is a little hard to explain over the interwebs you have to experience what they are like in person.

I had no idea that it was so wide spread though haha. Let alone that anyone on Newschoolers would EVER go to something like this.

they dont force you into it! some people come looking for help or just looking for a good time, i know kids in it who arnt Christians or Jesus's freaks, but they still come and enjoy it, others are really devoted and its really cool? why hate on religion? its a choice just like someone doing drugs or something

i went to young life all through high school. It was such a fun time and everyone was super cool.
I definitely miss the days of young life and the ridiculously crazy things we used to do.
Summer camps with young life were the best. Malibu Canada in B.C. was the sickest camp ever and soo gorgeous.

^well thomas you did hang out with me all weekend.

yl is the best, no pressure to act a certain way or do/say certain things. young life is the most mellow place ever. i'm really really close with my local younglife leaders, they actually host it at thier house usually. and i'm a student leader now. It's actually pretty big here in central WA. i'm a senior now and i've been going to young life since freshman year.

i actually started going because i found out about the annual winter trip to schweitzer haha. turned out to be the best thing i ever got involved in. it's nothing strict like a youth group and it's not affiliated with any churches so nothing is shoved down your throat. it's the best. if it wasn't for the prayer at the very end you'd have no clue that it had anything to do with God.

the camp that we go to every summer is Malibu up the coast of British Columbia. i've been the last 2 summers and i'm going to work up there this summer. it is the best week of your life. it's almost frustrating that i can't explain how amazing it is over words lol.

anyways, yeah, i'm a proud younglifer.
