So what the hell is wrong with me?

This would be my first (did a little last year) full year of park skiing, and I think I might have some serious mental issues going on right now; I always learn a trick, have it down for a few days, then fall once and then I can never do it again. Its happened for 360s, double hand drag 360s, butter 360s, 270 out both ways, 270 on, and front switch ups. I tried a while back to get my 5s, and fell a few times, then I couldn't do 3s anymore without getting off axis. When I try front switch ups, or 270 out, I find myself barely being able to slide the box. When I try to 270 on, I always end up stopping at 180, which really sucks if its on a rail or lift tower. This is really frustrating and I'm getting worried that this is something I'm going to have to deal with whenever I learn something new. So does this happen to anyone or am I just fucked up? And if so, I would love to know how you guys deal with it. Thanks NS.

You're thinking about it too much. Approach the feature with composure, think about other stuff, and don't freak out!

Commit to the trick, don't force it and throw yourself around on spins. If you need to, start off throwing 180's then step it up.

if you mess up once you might think you can't do it but you have to come back try again and know you can do it.

i dont mean to sound like a dick, but your being a pussy. that used to happen to me all the time. but i promise you will find yourself having way more fun once you just commit. start with easy things to build your confidence and then you will find yourself getting everything back that you've "lost" in 1 day. watch your favorite edits to get you stoked and listen to some good tunes to get pumped up. also, skiing with friends helps so much. its peer pressure, but in a good way.


trust me. it took me years to realize most of these things but once i did, i found myself progressing immensely.

Don't think about it too much, and don't push it too much. Always be ready to take a step back and get comfortable. For example, if you're having trouble sticking 3s, do a couple 180s. If you're having trouble with 180s, go back to straight airs. Make sure you're still having fun, because getting frustrated about what tricks you're doing or not doing is definitely not fun.

One more piece of advice: if you take three laps outside the park before hitting a rail or a jump, your performance will improve 100%, I guarantee it.

same happened with me in skating

dont no if you skate but anyway i learned a rock to fakie the first time i skated ramps ( about a year ago, been skating for year and a halfish)

later that day i ate doing it and couldnt do it for almost a year

then when i finally learned it again by just committing ( its really easy trick) i got it and can do it on any ramp up to bout 8ft.

since re - learning them ive learned loads of new tricks so just commit

confidence when your setting up for your trick. dont think about going off axis or anything like that

thiisss^^ its always good to take some laps through some trees, any untouched powder, any non park runs when you 1st start riding for the day. (at least for me) I can rarely jus go straight into park.....it clears your head and reminds you of why you love skiing.

and op this happens to me also. i used to do fives super easy. and then i moved to germany and didnt ski for 4 months and knowi can barley get 3's. i dont spend much time in the park anymore though so thats probaly why.
