Solid rail ski (all info included)

Alright so im 18, 130bs (scary i know), 5'7.  Ive been on k2 disorderlys 08/09 model for two seasons and I think its time for a change,  they are size 159 running surface, 164 tip to tail.  I loved them to death, thrashed them to oblivion but its definitely the time for a change if i can afford it next season.  Im prob looking to buy stuff close to end of the season so i can get it cheap.


What Im looking for is a light, low swing weight rail ski that i can use to butter and fuck around with.  I will be matching them up with marker griffons and im looking for around 169-174? size.  I barely hit jumps, maybe once or twice a day, go off a ton of side booters and trannys.

I've looked at the Liberty LTE, Rossi s4, Atomic punx.  I'm going to try the most of my money and straying away from k2.  Ive also researched a ton about the surface no times but i would have to order those and thats money that could be used for living.

If you have first hand experience with a ski that matches my criteria, share

If money is an issue, use the cash you would spend on a new set and buy two sets of used skis off Sell Trade. Use them both until they're run into the ground.

I know you said no K2, but take a look at the domain. Jib rocker, super light, low swing weight, and symmeterical. May as well check it out

Get the line afterbangs.  They may be a little on the heavier side but nothing you cant work with, as well they are symmetrical so their great for rails and urban.  Not only that but their durable and overall a fun ski.

Well s4's are fucking stiff, so you won't be able to butter them. But they are really durable, super light, and really poppy. I love mine, i have them in a 174 and i'm 5'8-9, 130, 16 years old, and an expert skier. So similar to you. They are awesome skis but from I can tell, you are going to find them too stiff.

Punx would be a good option for you, they have a really nice mid stiff flex pattern, stiff enough that they aren't noodles, but soft enough that you can still butter them. They are ridiculously light, like "you won't even feel like you have skis on your feet" light. I have heard of some issues with durability though, so if you are doing a shit ton of rails they might fall apart on you.

From what i've heard about lte's, they are indestructable and really poppy (bamboo core is the shit!). PM VCharette, he loves his and he definitely beat the shit out of em.

Another good ski for you would be volkl ledges, i had them for two seasons and I treat my skis like shit, didn't get a single edge crack or any major base damage. Their soft and buttery, great on rails.

k2 domains they are a solid jib ski with k2's new Jib zone that you can get for under $500 right now.  or you could go for the new k2 press which is like the Silencer but has jib zone and is jib oriented.

i think you survived a nuclear bomb blast and you were exposed to radiation. Völkls are basically the worst built skis on the market (especially the ledges mentioned above)

I had lots of trouble with my Völkls, especially the Ledges. The Topsheet came of really quick and the bases fell apart after only 2 days of use. (could be only me tho)
I suggest the thread-creator a pair of Amplid Townships from last season. They are pretty light and butter-able moreover Amplid has a great costumer service...

Otherwise i would suggest you the Atomic Punx (someone already told you why they would fit you)

Volkl's topsheet durability is shit, but thats just cosmetics. I never had any problems with my bases, i ski a lot of trees and because i'm on the east and we don't get a ton of snow, theres always exposed rocks, never got a single core shot. Edges are bomb-proof as well.

I have the Boone spaceghost park and they are light as fuck. 82.5 underfoot and a bamboo core makes them the lightest skis I have ever owned. They are also pretty soft, I can butter them really easy and I weigh like 150. I love em.

Everyone in this thread needs to stop recommending the skis they happened to buy new this year. OP, take my advice, go to the Sell/Trade section and get two pairs of sticks, I wouldn't be too picky.

As mentioned above, look into possibly getting two used pairs (in decent condition) for a price similar to what you would pay for a new set up.  I

f you're thinking about getting used skis for primarily rails, I've found K2's park skis generally take rail abuse really well, along with Armada and Rossi.  I've owned at least one pair of park skis, not all new, from these companies and they all performed great.  If you're looking for a light ski with low swing weight, the best ski imo is the S4.  I loved my S4's dearly for the fact that they held up to about 80ish days of hard abuse with just one small edge crack, they are really really light with low swing weight, and they have a nice medium flex.

so do i. look into armadas!! i havent heard a bad thing about them and i have looked and looked. sounds like the Halo or T-Hall would be good for you. from what ive heard, they are super light (ar50 sidewalls) and durable (again, ar50) and pretty soft. and with early rocker in tip and tail (or whatever its called, Park Rocker??) buttering should be a slice of nice, sweet, tasty cake or pie. whatever you like. hope this helps!

I had a edge rip off my Townships in 21 days of skiing. By the end of season I had no edge on either of my right sides of my skis and both my left edges were pulling out and they did not even have edge cracks. They just randomly started pulling out.
My friend had 2 pairs of dogmas the first edges ripped out in about 20 days and the second pair he used for a week at Windells and 3 times on our summer setup and then the edges started to rip out.

Sparknotes: If you like skiing with edges dont get Amplids
