Board to skis, help a man out.

Hello NS.

I ski in Ohio, I used to ski with rentals, but I bought a board 4 years back and boarded since. I've recently switched with a friend for fun and decided I want to start skiing again.

I can handle myself on the slopes decently, I'm probably a type 2 or 3. I want to do park though (it's ohio).

I am:
19 years old
205 pounds, big build guy
6'0

and I need recommendations for good park skis, boots, and bindings, I know absolutely NOTHING about skiing equipment.

I'll probably troll the trades section for the next week, trying to spend less than 500 bucks on this, but need to know what I'm looking for.

You're pretty tall and hefty, so definitely look for a longer ski. I'm 6'0" as well, and I ski a 175 park ski, but I'm only 165 pounds, so it works for me well. If I were you I would go with something that's about 185cm because of your weight— a longer ski will be more stable. At your weight, you should also be looking for something pretty stiff. I can't give you specific names, as I'm no connoisseur of the park ski, however I'm sure somebody else will.

i was in your exact situation in march. i picked up some 182 bluehouse anthems and quite enjoy them. durability has not been amazing but what can you except when you hit rails all day. go to a bootfitter to find a boot that fits you and for bindings i picked up some sth16s of evo for 200. remember when trying on boots that ski boots fit completely different snowboard boots and they should feel super tight because they pack out after a couple days of riding. welcome to the darkside you made the right decision. hiking a rail is so much better on skis and is only one of many advantages of skiing.

I have those exact skis and they are fun and probably a great ski for you.  Stiff with pop, the top sheets get messed up but that's just cosmetic.  They carve quite well too.

You should ask a bootfitter about boots.

im 6 foot 205 pounds also. and i am a big build guy also, and i ride 171 spirals and 185 ep pros for park.

I feel bad for your EPPs if you use them as a park ski... Mine are in need of comforting after having been in the same room as a computer screen displaying your post.

i only use them off jumps. i hit one rail with them and i dont want to mess up the edges. and i butter off the lips of jumps and stuff.

Yeah I'm planning to do that too, just jumps. I can't do rails on a board, not gonna do rails with skis. I can't wait til I get the EXT's though, they sound awesome.

Sorry but you probably arent a level III skier. If you haven't skied in 4 years and only rented before that, you are probably II.

Mostly Mad River, used to go to Perfect North but I go to school in columbus. Pretty good place for midwest.
