Not to shit on you, but it's not a very loud amp. The bassist in my band has the same one and we have to turn it all the way up just to hear it over drums.
As a drummer for about 9 years, I feel compelled to state that drumming ability does in fact correspond with loudness. A good drummer would know how and when to play a little more quietly, instead of just thrashing over the sound of the whole band. My .02
Truth, the term is stick control. But it is fun to play loud at band practice, some people play louder than others. He MAY have no technique because he plays loudly but not necessarily
That's what I was getting at. You're right, it is stick control, but you can have excellent stick control and no sense of dynamics. I enjoy playing loudly as much as the next drummer, but I think its a better experience if you balance volume with the guitars, bass, and vocals in order to improve the sound, even if it IS just a jam or a casual practice. Again, my .02, not being critical
This is 100% false. Any talented drummer will tell you that a good drummer can play well at any volume.
100w is fucking loud, even if its solid state, and if you still can't hear it over the drummer, tell the drummer to chill the eff out. Louder does not always equal better. Dynamics are completely relative, and if you're thrashing the drums the whole song, then the entire song becomes "thin."
when me and my buds jam or play a gig we go over this all the time, its not about everybody going nuts, you gotta control the volume in order for everyone to be able to jam out properly
I worded what I said poorly. My fault. What I meant was that just because he usually plays quite loudly, does not mean that he is a poor drummer as the other poster implied. If we asked him to he could certainly quiet down and play just as well.
I didn't mean to start an argument, I just didn't think the amp was insanely loud. It gets us by, but who wouldn't love to have an Ampeg?
In case you're referring to me as the other poster, I certainly wasn't implying that your drummer wasn't talented. I was merely analyzing your statement about volume having nothing to do with ability. I apologize if trashing your drummer was the vibe you go from anything I said.
I slap some of that bass, peavey grindx 5 string, Ernie ball 25th anniversary 4 string, SWR headlite, SWR golite 4 x 10" speakers, SWR workingman's 12" and then traynor dyna bass 200t, which is 2x 10" speakers.
Couldn't find a linkable pic of my ernie ball, here's link to the site http://www.ernieball.com/news/page39
