How hard is it to break a ski?

i was just wondering how hard it is to break a ski? i do lots of butters and my used and abused 08 anthems look roughf. when i butter now my ski squiks and fells like it will break at any time. so just wondering how hard it is to break a ski.

coming into a landing way back seat is a good way to do it. Snapped and after bang coming back seat off a fucked misty attempt and hit a big pile of snow.

skis are a shiiiiiitload stronger than you'd think. just think of the abuse they get skiing moguls or landing massive airs. another good one is if you see a slow motion video of a rail have a look at how far the tips and tails flex downwards when the skier hits the rail. its almost scary.

I have 189 2011 kung fujas and i am 6 foot 5 ish and 260 pounds. When i butter i am nervous i am going to break the ski or rip a binding out. I have sth 16 mounted by a good shop. Do I have any reason to worry?

Nah, since they are new, no need to worry. Buttering for a few seconds usually won't rip or break a ski unless you have surface park skis.

you're such a little douche bag. the ski being new doesn't mean one god damn thing about it pulling out or breaking.
I have a friend that toured the k2 factory, and he they had to guess how much force it took to break a ski. He got it right and got to keep the ski. I'll ask him how much it took

i saw some kid who was going onto a box last year get his ski caught under the box between the box and the plywood, snapped the entire front of his ski off. i felt so bad, he looked super bummed.

Im rocking some Line Invaders I love nollies and attempting to learn butters. Long story short Im into the nose and tail pressing sort of tricks. It sketches me everytime but thus far I've uad no problems. Just make sure your core stays nice and dry. Thats the key to ski longevity.

You can break your skis from buttering. I have a friend who broke his afterbangs by ripping layers off his ski because his din was really high.

actually he was bagging on surface, which from both people is unneeded hat, surface park skis have worked fine for me.

my surface ll2s snapped pretty easy. The guy at the shop thought it was because they were on their 3rd mount and also because there were huge topsheet chips by the bindings.

Are you sure its your skis that are squeaking? It could be your bindings, I have a pair of Jesters that squeak from time to time. On how hard is it to break a ski- as mentioned above it really depends. I have four buddies that all shred pretty similarly in the park- very hard. Two of them are always snapping tails and needing new skis, and the other two have never broken a pair of skis besides edge damage. A lot of it is just luck (or lack of), but try your best to not land too tail heavy. Land then afterbang, don't land in afterbang.
