I live in Michigan so i dont get to go out west very often. Im def going to vail and breck for at least 2 days each. So I have 2 more days to ski which I need help deciding on. I hear good things about, Keystone for park and Beaver creek for pow. Also winter park i hear is good. Since Breck has the park scene, im looking for more BC.
god dammnit, why does every east coast skier looking to ski the west talk about skiing "BC instead of park". THe park is located on a mountain. Just say you want to ski a sick mountain or big mountain. You have no idea what BC is.
That said, if you're limited to Summit County, go to Arapahoe Basin. If you can get out of Summit County, go to either Steamboat or Aspen. I'd normally suggest other resorts, but they'd be too hard to get to if you only have two days. You can't go wrong with either of those resorts though. My suggestion goes to Aspen/Snowmass though since for your two days there you can choose from 4 awesome mountains, 3 with some of the best big mtn. terrain, and the other with one of the best terrain parks.
If your going to go to winter park, stay on mary jane side, the front side of winter park is for greenhorns. Steamboat is killer. If you can, go south towards Durango or Gunnison, Wolf Creek and Crested Bute are two of my personal favorites for BC skiing.
If you want pow go to Wolf Creek. They get 200 more inches than most of colorado, and are not super developed so the powder lasts. That place is amazing.
COPPER MOUNTAIN DUDE!!!! Free snowcat to Tucker's Peak for as back country as it gets without really being in the backcountry. Copper has amazing terrain!
not much. there's the outback area and some decent trees but they get tracked out super fast unless you know where to go. seriously, drive the extra 10 minutes and go to A Basin.
ABay is so small though... You can get all the terrain at Copper and so much more. Plus ABay isn't doing great on snow at all this year. Copper's getting a ton.
Haha! I have a Colorado Pass and a Copper Pass. I actually only really go to Copper to ride their Pipe. But I've done some pow days there and they do have some amazing terrain... Just trying to throw out the pros and cons, easy killah!
ABay is also phenomenal for terrain... I just think Copper has that plus more. Either would be sick though.
word. i've only skied copper once and i didn't find much challenging terrain despite being with regulars of the mountain. they definitely had some sick trees though. maybe it was just cuz it was a rather flat light kind of day?
