im assuming you are in Quebec to take advantage of the much, much cheaper education Mcgill can provide while still offering the same level of education with the best schools in the US... ya....

I love Canada, I have never had to pay to see the doctor, a university semester costs me 1600 bucks, the people are more tolerant and less divided, we have a positive world image, our drug laws in practice are relaxed, we can drink at 18, or 19 depending where, i can get in a fight without worrying about the person having a gun, public schools are as good as private schools, our economy stays relatively stable throughout the recession, people don't get trampled to death on "shopping" holidays, we don't have any sarah palin's, in fact our political scene is pretty boring and stays pretty similar regardless (the way most of us like it).... could go onnnn and onnn, so take pride Americans in your strong military and twisted politics because at the end of the day its the shit above that makes my life in Canada alot better.

WTF? Belgium? No they aren't comparable to schools of the US but it really depends on what you want to do with your life I know people who go to NYU and University of Chicago paying $50,000 a year tuition and people in Canada paying $5,000. If you want to be a politician or scientist... go to school in america and take your student loans but otherwise canada is a good option with good schools

and that statement is completely true! no problem with that argument at all, school in the US is expensive and that sucks, but it is impossible for someone to say that Canada has better schools. Now, with that being said, like you said you can still get a great education and live a good life, but my argument was more centered towards the kid who said that McGill was comparable to the top US schools

ya please go on... the US has a great education system, ivy league schools run you 200 grand for a degree, and good state colleges are borderline impossible to get in. In canada we have good education that is accessible, but your right we don't have harvard or yale.... which is fine....

The British Broadcasting Corporation has just announced its results of a survey in which more than 28,000 people were polled in regards to their opinions and attitudes towards thirteen major countries around the world. The results are not startling due to so many countries currently pursuing military power around the world.

It should be noted that 1,000 people in other popular countries like the US, France, Germany, India, Egypt, Turkey, and Mexico were also involved in the survey.

Israel is at present the least popular country in the world with a 56% negativity rating, while Canada ranks as the most popular with a positive percentage rating of 54%. Other rankings include the US and Russia in unpopular eight and ninth places with Japan, the EU and Canada rounding off the top three most popular countries in the world. India also deserves mention as this and similar polls show that the country is steadily improving its popularity around the world.

but I have to comment about technologically advanced countries, north America certainly doesn't have any, asia is kicking our asses (but what do you expect from asians) I just wish we could get little things better I mean Japan has 1 GB/S internet speed in EVERY home and we have 1 MB/S standard... really

is the meeting you are referring to the g8? cause canada is a part of it... we entered ww1 and ww2 before you did and were incredibly successful in turning the tide of the wars to the allies. exactly what war did we bitch out of? you bought alaska from the russians, never took it from canadian hands. british immigrated to north america, and established colonies, canada is simply composed of those colonies. americans never decided where and what land canadians should have. in the war of 1812, fought between americans and the british precursors to canada accomplished nothing. the divide between canada and the states was decided upon by a treaty at the end of the indecisive conflict. and our "shitty" land has an incredible amount of oil and timber and other resources in which your country relies on. as one of the world's largest and most pre-eminent economies decisions made in canada do indeed affect change on a global scale.

I am also going to assume you are a Canadian that has never actually lived in the US and therefore just project every opinion you're fed on CBC, from other Canadians, etc. I have no issue with Canada whatsoever on a serious level (b/c alcohol prices aren't the end of the world and it's all relative after all), but I do tend to have an issue with the general know-it-all condescending attitude that I find that a lot of Canadians seem to have towards the States. The majority of these views consist of vast generalizations about the population of a very large country. I'd like to avoid the whole political talk b/c I don't honestly have a fucking clue about the politics in either country, but I'd say i'm a keen social observer of populations in both countries and that's just the vibe i get up here. This is after 3 years in the country, so I feel like I have a more legitimate idea of the attitude up here than what you think the US is about-that is of course unless you have lived in the States for an extended period of time. The majority of the time on both sides of the border, you are going to hear the most shit from someone who has absolutely no legitimate experience (other than the odd ski trip, trip to US/CAN cities) in either country. I have learned quite a bit living up here (especially in QC) about how the US is perceived and I get a POV that a lot of people in the States never will, but probably should. At the end of the day it makes me like the US that much more. And I would not say the level of education is on the same/better/or worse level up here. It is way cheaper and that's encouraging, but your levels of endowment pale in comparison to those in the states and thus lots of facilities are run down, lacking in resources, etc. Just to sum it up, I can't recount how many times I will be walking around Montreal or especially McGill and hear some fucking retard self-appointed guru on everything about the States spewing absolute bullshit, and most likely he is going to be from Toronto and probably wearing glasses, but I digress. Anyway, that's my two cents. Not tryna rip on Canada at all b/c I would not be up here if I did not like it (and the fact that I can drive home in less than 2 hours to VT), but you need to see it from my perspective, which I feel is well-rounded (or more so than most in both Canada and the US).

Do you know what me, an American, supposedly loud and obnoxious person, loves about Canada?!?!! I love how quiet and reserved everyone is on the city buses. People are either reading books, listening to their ipods, or napping. It's the most relaxed ride ever, whereas in the States you would have people screaming retarded shit and blasting their iphones like they are the only people on the bus. I grant you props on this Canada! You're doin a great job and keep up the good work!
