Today i managed to land a backflip and concuss myself at the same time. My head took a big chunk out the jump which was almost solid ice. I am so thankful that i was wearing my helmet. This could have been a disaster if I was not wearing it. I honestly think i would be knocked out in the snow right now if it was not for the helm.
I noticed that aswell. After my head hit it forced my upper body and my neck forwards. That isnt my regular form for a backflip
how about some positive feedback?
I noticed my hands are up near my chest during takeoff. is that a bad spot for them? I know it would look better if they were glued to my side so maybe i can work on that.
dude i got a concussion last night doing a back... the jump was to small my tips caught and i catapulted into the icey slopes of wisconsin.... this is my second in under a month so im out for the season,... how long you out for
yea im really fuckin confused about that. where the FUCK did it come from? is that like my brain matter or something????? wtf now thinking about it scares me
haha yeah no problem, I have a pretty extensive gymnastics and tumbling backround so I guess you could say I was tought the "right" way. But i suppose if you land it everytime then its your way of doing things. It's kind of like brushing your teeth, there's a right way and then theres your way. Anyway, the one no no of backflips is to throw your head back, the proper technique is to keep your head tucked to your chest until about 1/2 way into the back flip and then you spot your landing. another one is to tuck your legs (if its a back tuck and not layout) into your chest until you are ready to land
so you turned this from, hey check out this video of me doing a backflip and watch my head hit the tip of the jump . to, what can i do to make my backs look better. soooo.. you gota go with something and stick with it. nommee sayiin?
I like how there are a bunch of hate comments, when the guy just flipped upside down, hit his head on the jump, recieved a concussion, and still rode away. Fuck all you guys who hated this thread, go back to practicing parallel turns down greens.
wait for the flip, you dbsorbed the lip and flipped without popping, thats why you hit your head. IOt didn't look like you hit your head very hard. Hard to believe you got a concussion from that.
I don't know, it just didn't look like that hard of an impact. Every concussion i've gotten was from really hard impacts, and on most of them my helmet cracked.
I tried some today, landed on my head about 4 times. It seemed like as soon as I saw the ground, I would either hit the ground or stop rotating and then land on my face.
Never hit my head but i under rotated and my tips caught and both of my skis just ripped into pieces in the front. Good thing it was awhile ago and i rented them so they gave me new ones.
haha my brother did the same thing when learning how to do a lincolin at bachelor. hit his head on the lip and knocked himself out for like 20 seconds with a helmet on
