I just got my skis and bindings in the post and the binding is quite high and has the pad, rail thingy under it, is this gonna be bad for powder? freeskiing? I think i got the wrongs ones, quite pissed off really.

like a raceplate between the heel piece and toe piece? or lifters (plates under the heel and toe seperately to raise the binding)?

yeah its to raise the binding but its those head bindings with the rail flex so you can adjust the whole binding mounting position forward or backwards 1.5cm, thats a plus i suppose

this doesnt have to do with binding adjustment, i am not telling how to set his bindings. he is asking a question about what appears to be a rebranded (Head) Tyrolia freeflex binding. it is a question about the build of the binding.
now then, OP
you should be fine with it. while it is not their freestyle model (Peak/Mojo), it is a decent alpine binding. the only use of the raceplate is to add some support to the ski directly underfoot. with what you said, it also seems like it allows some lateral movement. if you are sceptical, look at the Marker Jester (?) schitzo binding. it has the same concept. i have friends that ride the head binding, and it works fine for them. i would personally recommend the Tyrolia peak/Head Mojo/4frnt deadbolt. they are the freestyle binding, and will be able to take a bit more abuse if you need it. if not, it should work for you.
