Rodeo 5 help

I tried a few yesterday and I just couldn't figure out how to set it, I kept coming up short on the flip and getting my tails caught and now I've got a sore neck haha. How do you set the rotation?

make sure you get a solid pop, open up your shoulder and be looking over your shoulder to spot the landing, once you come around to 360 the 540 should come to you naturally, and ride away with a smile!

how big of a jump should I try it on? I feel like the one I was doing was too small... It was like a 15 foot kicker

yeah if you're under rotating then definitely take it to something a little bigger

think about turning 90 and then do a blackflip the other 90 will just come around    thats how i learned at least

no it isnt. an underflip is more like a 90, linoln loop (uphill direction) then other 90. like a misty but lincoln the other way

my first few days i had them perfect with grabs and all. I was stoked. Now the third day of me doing them they turned into underflipy things but in the air they feel like rodeos. Haha now im comfy with undyflips but i wana rodeo. Its hard to get them back to rodeos because there pretty much the same thing exept how you spin with the lincoln/backflip rotation. So yeah good luck

One of the biggest things for me was instead of using your arms to throw the rotation use your shoulder to lead the rotation. It is really easy to end up doing a rodeo 7 if you lead with your arms too much, and should be a smooth consistent rotation leading with your shoulder and aiming with your head.

whenever i tried the set in the video while i was on water ramps, I ended up misty/bio. I then tried setting it more with my waist and legs, and that seemed to work much better. Still haven't got them on snow, hopefully soon haha

thanks dude, this helps. at my park we got a 50 footer,30 footer that is really pops you and shoots you to the moon, and a 15/20 footer. what should i try it on?

ya thats right a rodeo is turn shoulders ninety and backlip then another ninety

So you wanna rodeo 5? even though its a basic trick it can be very difficult to learn at first. all you have to do is drop your shoulder and lean back. really it's not that hard. could you try it on a tramp first, cuz that would help a lot with progression. hucking it off a low diving board is good practice too. before you throw in grabs just get the motion down. after you learn the rodeo you can try rodeo 7's or 9's too. read the first letter of each sentence.

once you dip your shoulder and get the 180 do you then backflip?

also i dont understand what people mean when they say they set it like a back flip

Flat 3 is a good start, but it means you're flipping backwards. Look at the TJ Schiller how-to at the beginning of the thread and that's really all it is. You have to focus on jumping forwards, not backwards.

When I go off, I widen my stance, pop, roll forwards and throw my arms to grab mute. I find that by going for mute grab it sets me exactly where I need to be to roll it around to 5 or more.

To go past 5, just get a little more windup and keep your body turning/your head looking.

So many people try going for rodeo 5 befor they can do a flat 3 and that usually. Causes them to rotate to early and do an underflip. Start with a strait backflip, once you get that down try to throw you feet over one shoulder to do a flat/rodeo 3. It's good to spot your skis in front of you while you flip do that you don't throw your head back too much. Also don't try to "spin" it's more of an off axis backflip than an actually 360. Once you get a flat 3 down, and you will be able to tell, try to do the same thing just set a little harder, spot your landing after flat 3 and rotate the last 180. It's actually not hard at all once you get a flat 3 down.

i did like 10 this weekend and not landing a single one, resulting in a sore neck aswell. Really frustrating since i had it down solid last season. I'd sudgest trying to spot ur landing, and keepig ur knees solid so u just dont collapse.
