Probably a very n00bish question but i'd like to get into some sort of backcountry/powder skiing. And i have never even left my home ountain of Wachusett... so yeah. Kind of self explanatory.
the presidentials, the white mountians, the Green mounitans, all have many skiiabe peaks, for lift served the best your going to get is jay or mad river
To be honest I've never done it myself, hopefully I will do it this year, but who knows. I can imagine the hike is hard, but it should be fine if you get a decent pack.
the hike usually takes about 3 hours for the average person. I carried my skis and boots and a lot more stuff than i needed up to tucks when i was in 8th grade, so i would imagine its not hard for the average person to do. you will sleep very well that night though
I guess you could find a way. I've hiked around carrying skis with a boot bag just by putting them through the straps, but that was really annoying. Packs designed to carry skis will probably make it easier.
if youre looking for a solid as fuck pack for hiking/carrying skis/fighting zombies/ anything you could imagine, the northface offchute is by far the best pack i have ever owned in my life. the price is a bit steep, but you should be able to find a less popular color online for a decent discount
i've done it every april for like 5 years now. my dads done it for like 20 before that. as long a you have a pretty good pack, its not hard. it's very rewarding though.
