I don't understand why Americans can't just watch our shows? It seems pointless remaking a British show that producers find good, using the same character names and profiles, just actors with American accents. The Office is one of the only remakes that comes anywhere near the quality of its UK counterpart. I wouldn't watch a UK version of Friends, or 2.5 Men, for example, because the comedy is based on those individuals and their nuances.

once again, MTV displays a great amount of info about what the show actually is. I assume its about drunk teens at mega party's who die in a puddle because their dumb ass friends are stupid and leave them in a sprinkler. any one able to correct me? I would look it up, but i cant be bothered to put any effort into something with that vague a commercial.

I actually don't think they do. "MTV" is no longer short for "Music Television", just 3 letters put together that you recognize and adore (at least in America). From Wikipedia:

2010 rebranding
Since the premiere of the short-lived FNMTV in 2008, MTV has used a revised, chopped version of its traditional logo during most of its on-air programming. The revised logo is largely the same as MTV's original logo, but it excludes the "Music Television" caption, the bottom section of the "M" block letter, and the trailing letter "V" that branched off to the side of the original logo.[85] However, much like the ever-changing patterns that filled MTV's original 1981 logo, the new 2010 logo is designed to be filled in with an unlimited variety of pictures and images. This new logo formally became MTV's official brand mark on February 8, 2010, when it debuted on MTV's website.[86] The channel's long-running official tagline "Music Television" was officially dropped at this time.[85] It is not, however, used worldwide, as most other countries currently retain the full MTV logo complete with "Music Television" tagline. i've noticed a shit ton of british people who LOVED the wire. i think they do television a lot better than we do, with the lone, massive, shining exception of the wire, the greatest thing ever to be shown on tv.

Movies and TV are always so off from portraying what its really like to be a teenager in the suburbs of America...I doubt this show will be any different.  It seems like MTV will focus on the style of this show much more than the actual characters and storylines.  But at the same time, I don't want to make any hasty judgements, could this be MTVs first big, critically acclaimed fictional show...possibly, but probably not.

I really enjoy the British version but I have a feeling the U.S. version won't be quite as good, partly due to our stricter TV regulations here in the states.

I'll give it a shot but I'll mist likely end up sticking with the U.K. version

My main criticism of the UK version was that it was so unlike real teenage life, it is laughable, and it becomes unrelatable. House parties for mid-teens usually result in a bit of silliness, some drinking, and maybe a hook up if you're very lucky. And they're followed by school the next day. The first series of UK skins has 16 year olds partying in derelict warehouses in the countryside, off their faces on class A drugs, then trying to flee from angry drug dealers and sexually predatorial teachers the following day. Stupid.

this show makes me want to kill myself

it is literally the exact same thing as the uk skins, as in the first episode has the same exact characters, who do the same things, might even go as far to use the same lines, and it even has the same fucking zooming opening shot of tony (who has the same name in this one)

this show is a fucking sick copy of uk skins with all the swearwords and sex bleeped out. He says "gosh golly" in it in a serious manner.

Mate come to New Zealand and see the binge drinking culture here. I live in wanaka same place as Jossi.
The partys here are insane doesn't matter what age you are you get a minimum of a pash if you want it. You get the occasional kid snorting MDMA. Heaps of kids hitting up LSD and more a less every one is hitting bongs or something. I know in London like in the council estates you get some pretty extravagant things going down. But i think some of the shit in skins is a bit ott and not all of them are in council estates.
