I was wondering which helemet camera is the best to get GoPro, or Countor. Leave me answers on which to my friend should be investing in.

I have a go pro, and one thing you may want to know also is that you can mount the go pros on your ski pole also, either for self filming, or to use the pole as a boom. And you can mount the go pro like 100 other places, and it is water proof (countour is water resistant, case is separate). Also, you can change your settings on the go pro ( I heard that you need to do it on a computer for the contour.

One thing i have heard for the contour is that you cna now use a smartphone as a viewfinder, though only at 8 fps, and i think you need an adapter for certain phones, but I am not sure if this is with all models, or only the new gps model. As for the gopro, the 3d kit, double size battery, and lcd are "coming soon"

go pro, there so great
i've never had a problem with it, it works great and has great quality photos and videos. Also it comes with tons of different mounts so u can get really creative with where you put it. Not to mention the wide angle lens on it, its really wide and almost always gets the shot. hope that helped.

I love my GoPro, but both are great and have their strengths.

However, if I were in the market for a helmet cam right now, this feature might be enough to sway me toward the Contour even though I don't believe it's been released yet

meh, thats not enough to justify the higher cost when the GoPro is cheaper and better

gopro is better when just looking at the facts, yes.

but the value you would place on something like live view is subjective, so you can't definitely say gopro is better. some people might value live view enough that the price of the contour is well worth it.

also, i don't get why you're arguing. i said i own gopro (meaning i chose it over a contour), and i didn't say the contour was better than the gopro. i said the feature might sway me toward a contour. never said anything about that making it better than the gopro.

read more carefully before trying to argue

I know you own a gopro, Im just saying its still cheaper to get the GoPro LCD which is on the gopro and much faster than 8fps, then to get a smarthphone/iPod Touch for a shitty live view

to sum it up I'm just trying to still say my point: GoPro > Contour

The Contour GPS's setting can be adjusted with bluetooth, I thought that was pretty awesome.

Ever hear of the JonesCam? they're $180, 720p, and about the size of a tube of chapstick.

Where is this GoPro LCD? I'm curious to see how big/small it is.

The 8fps thing isn't really a factor at all, don't see how that's much of an issue. all i really need is one frame to tell me if the camera is mounted correctly. And i never said people should get an iphone just to get live view. if you already have a phone like that, it's nice that the contour can be synced for live view.

honestly i just don't think, for pov shots, a wired monitor/monitor on the back of the camera can even come close to the how useful a wireless 'monitor' is. gopro just needs to find a way to wirelessly do live view on an iphone at a rate faster than 8fps to satisfy those of you who think 8fps is too slow.

they can keep the lcd on the back though, because honestly it is very cool and could be great for most shots with a gopro. but if you're doing helmet POV, it's useless.

have a friend look at it, then turn off the screen to save battery.

It seems like its mostly for pole mount use and reviewing footage of the lift/in the lodge, but it would still work fine for helmet mount IMO

yea i mean obviously you could do that, but it could be kinda hard for them to get a good look at it depending on the angle, it's going to be annoying to have your friend have to keep checking it whenever you readjust it, and if you're by yourself then you're outta luck.

i do agree that it is much more for pole mount use and reviewing footage
