Dulling edges

ok i understand a lot of people on ns frown upon using a file to detune edges, however i have been using a swix gummy stone in an attempt to dull my edges under foot and have found no difference in my edges catching.

so i have moved over to trying to detune them using harder rails and have noticed that my edge is almost molding so that yes is is somewhat duller, but it is really goofy and sharp on the sidewall.

in short im looking for some one who does it to tell me how to detune safely using a file.

my skis do this too, but i have found no issue with just letting the rail form the edge of the ski to the shape it wants. is it really necessary to detune it? if you want them to dull faster just rub your edges against a tree or something i guess

id rather do it clean and with a file because i can control the consistancing of filing more than with just a rock or rail. the edges are goofy and id like my edges to last as long as possible.

Be careful with a file. When you take too much off, theres no going back. Also, this will void any warranty you previously had.

i understand that but my warranty is done this year anyway and i dont really ski them to the point at which they would break.

im just looking for someone who uses a file to tell me or show how they do it. im not looking to detune like hornbeck does with a dremel tool like in the armada kooks edit or anything just looking for a duller edge than i get with a gummy stone in order to save me edges from cracking/ripping out faster.
