Alright guys, I've got a pair of nice poles I found that were thrown out because the baskets were trashed. I've also got a pair of scott poles with circular baskets, but I have tried to take them off without damaging them and nothing has worked... What should I do? +++K for help.

They make a tool for it if they are really stubborn.
The easiest/quickest way to do it is to close a vise loosely around the pole, and yank on the grip. Brace yourself with your foot on the vice and pull. They usually come right off.
The shop tool is the best way though. You basically hammer them off.

As for the old poles, go to a shop. A decent shop ALWAYS has a huge box of pole baskets.

boil a pot of water (turn off heat), insert pole and basket into bowl of hot water (leave in in small intervals never more then 3 seconds) rinse and repeat until the basket becomes soft enough to pop off. Use oven mits so your hands dont get burned.

Its not a grip, its a basket.
And this is terrible advice considering the Scott baskets utilize a metal grommet in the basket. Boiling them would separate the basket from the grommet, leaving the grommet on the pole, which is not good.
