Checking out Grand Targhee

Going up to Grand Targhee for the first time, getting about 7 days in.

Any runs I absolutely need to hit? Mellow 20ish foot cliffs about? Places to eat? Places to get drunk? Places to get chicks? Conditions this weekend and next week? Anyone wanna hang out and show me some lines, smoke up, whatever?

There is no park right?

I'm not a local, but I go down there enough to know the lay of the land...

There isn't a park, but you don't need one there. The resort's cat skiing operation is totally sweet, do it if you have the money. If not, make sure you hike Mary's Nipple at least once--its a quick and easy trek to great skiing and a view that is out of this world. There's an incredibly obvious and long cliff band next to/above the Sacajawea lift that you can go as big/little as you want off of. You can scope most of it from Middle Earth (look at a map). You can also rage as hard/soft as you want at the Royal Wolf bar in Driggs. Watch out for cops between Driggs and the resort, one almost always sits near the state line. Have fun dude, lets hope the snow gods are good to Targhee and the rest of us in the northern rockies next week!

Thanks I'll for sure have to check out that Mary's Nipple thing. And yeah I wasn't too worried about the park anyway, I have a pretty legit park at home and shit so when I get up to Mammoth or something bigger I usually don't even bother with the park.

Yep, just go out the gate to DB at the top of Sac and you're there...definitely scope it from Middle Earth first though.

fer sure hike maty's at least once, you'll find out if the 20 minute hike is worth it.

Ya the peaked cliff band is cool, you might get tired of it though cause its 300 vertical feet of gnar, then a 10 minute catrack back to the lift. It is really fun though. Hike up and down the band, to hit some fun lines.

On the actual hill, hit up the patrol chutes area, they have some 5-10 footers in the area. and of course you will see the gaper gap jump over by lost groomer lol.

Targhe is either super mellow, or super gnar, nothing really in between. but it consistently has the lightest, most blower cold smoke snow on earth. cut up snow doesnt really consolidate, it remains blower so you go through it not hit it haha.

My advice is to really try and explore the area the first day you are there, becasue you will want to know the lay of the land, when the infamous vertigo inducing fog rolls in. It seriously is the worst fog ive ever been in. there are no trees really so it is brail skiing alot.

Have fun and hope for snow, and the catskiing is really mellow, you are not gonna be slaying gnar, and i wouldnt hit it up unless you can get a deal. also you should hit up ski and stay packages. they start from $69 a day and the tewinot lodge is dope, and literally ski in ski out.
