I am looking at possible going here in the future and I am wondering what it is like? how is Vancouver? What are the classes like? thing like that. I would be truly awesome to hear it form people who are going there now, have gone or planning to go.

Any info helps

Those are broad questions. Vancouver is generally thought of as one of the overall top cities in the world for lifestyle, activity, arts/culture/food etc. also it is a 90 minute drive from Whistler, and Baker is close as well. I didn't go to UBC but many of their programs are highly regarded, I know they have a good business school, but it depends what you want to do.

More narrow questions.
Are your classes taught by professor or TA's?
How much time do you spend study versus free time?
In you r experience, is it a party school or a mellow school?
What do you do besides skiing there?

Classes= prof lab/tutorials= TA

Study vs free time, totally depends on the course and individual. But maybe 5 hours of homework per course a week is a good estimate.

I have never lived on res, but it seems more mellow. But there is some partying to be done.

Besides ski. Hit up wreck beach, longboard? Vancouver has almost anything you want.

1) Profs, but it's Irrelevant at undergrad level, at least in the first 2 years of pretty much any program. A good TA that has teaching skills is better than a genius prof that can't communicate. Everything you learn in undergrad is very simple and widely known.
2) Completely program dependent
3) Either depending on what you want, it's a huge school
4) It's a 2M person city, pretty much anything you want :P

I always had my courses instructed by professors, only labs by TAs. Frankly, I would be insulted if they had a TA teach a course.

I spent a lot of time studying, but also a lot of time skiing and having fun. I also maintained an 80 average and a girlfriend. It's all about how effective you are and how hard you concentrate. Around mid terms and finals, no skiing, but other than that, I still got between 35-55 full days a season in Whistler.

Every school is a party school, no exceptions.

Anything I want to. Vancouver/BC has basically everything.

honestly, one of my biggest fears is being surrounded by stupid people. im just talking about the kind of person who you remember after talking to for 5 minutes or so because they are so well-spoken

there is a huge variety of people at ubc, but I would say that the average person is Chinese and drives a mercedes to school. I find that there are too many ignorant people that live in their own little world at UBC, but that might just be me. There are still definitely a lot of cool people if you seek them out, I have made a good amount of awesome friends even though I am a commuter. Join the UBC ski and board club, you will find a lot of legit people there!
