yeah-- i was confused by the whole "read between the parenthesis" thing too. By confused I mean I think the OP is just oblivious-- but maybe rather than trying to say "look, the word lie can be spelled out using the letters from the word life" he's trying to say "look at this F that I added to lie...it makes the word life"...in which case he's trying to point out the added "F" which cleverly converts the word LIE to LIFE-- rather than the other way around, where you would originally see the word LIFE, and then need to read OUTSIDE the parenthesis to find the word LIE.
It all depends on what word he started out with. Did he add the F to LIE, or did he single out the F in the word LIFE to create the word LIE?
This is the true philosophical argument of the thread.
the lesson is also valuable in learning venn diagrams. See...you can't get life without the lie, but you can get lie without the life.
