I read The Dao of Wu, by the Wu Tang founder himself, The RZA. He had some very interesting philosophies on life, and I really appreciate where he's coming from. The rest is personal, but yeh it's a combination of things.

didnt want this thread to get hostile, but i just like 2pac better than biggie, and totally understand what revolution they started, thats why most everyone knows who they are, yet they were only big cause they were unique, everyone sounds the same now a days, all they rap about is sex and being cool and havin swagga. so i dont know where my comment is goin, but all they do is talk about violence and the only people who follow there words are either retarded or really into them.

Thank you Mr. Brown, I agree entirely. Unfortunately, it was the young ears listening to those smooth beats with violent lyrics that have become the problem, they had no idea what it was they were poisoning their impressionable minds with. At least with violent beats, you have an overall feel that the song in inherently corrupt.
I do however admire Biggie's style, as I believe he produced most of his beats, but I cannot say I am a big fan of either. "Kick in the Door" has one of the freshest beats I have ever heard, but it's still about beatin' the fuck outta niggaz who owe big money ('All you gonna say is Papa don't hit me no more')
