hey ns! i bought afterbangs over the summer and i was soooo stoked on using them this season until the second day into preseason shreddin at my local hill, i dented my edge in one of my tips. (check my threads, its 'what should i do about this?!?!?!' complete with pics.) i thought it was no big deal until the next saturday, i looked at my skis and the edge had ripped apart from my tip. the ptex base was cracked and i was PISSED! i thought they were supposed to be bombproof! btw i dented the edge by not poppin high enough and hittin the edge of a box. the box was on a bunny hill and there was maybe 10 feet for me to gain speed, and it was slooooww snoww. ANYWAYS, i took them in to see if my local shop could do anything and they couldnt. he said the most they could do is epoxy and hope it would hold. i called line and they said it would take 3-4 weeks for a warranty claim to process with shippin included. it will be 6 WEEKS this saturday, thats 2x more time than they claimed. it should not take 6 weeks to get there, take a look at a tip, and call me or my shop back with information. the most we know so far is that they have gotten there. (they got there the 17th of december.) I am just about to give up and i have pretty much started searching for new skis already. right now, i am shredding on jr, non-center mount, 158 rossi scratch skis from 3-4 years ago. and im 5' 10". i dont have pretty much any money because i have spent it all on shippin the damn things and food at the chalets. I really dont want to give up on line, but right now, i dont know what to do. i called yesterday and they said they couldnt tell me anything. my shop said to wait until friday, and then what the hell do i do?

Aren't they supposed to be? They're relatively cheap jib skis that are for getting knocked around. OP you just got unlucky.

Also did it occur to you that if the skis arrived 17th Dec that the Line Staff maybe had other things to be doing? Skiing? Holidays? Doing warranty shit at this time of year is always a hassle cause there are so many holidays that people wont be working. So keep the faith they'll probably get back to you before too long.

now thats not true at all.

sucks you hurt your ski, but it looks like it was entirely your fault. skis arent army tanks so they are going to get hurt sometimes. sucks the time to get a new pair would be so long but I really dont think you should go as far to say line is a bad comapny. usually they have a pretty good warranty policy. you should be pretty happy if you get a new pair.

called, said they could do nothing. emailed twice with no response from line. so yeah..ive done everything i can. and i DID NOT BREAK MY SKI! i have been skiing on jr skis from rossignol and have hit at least 10 times more stuff and they are fine! there is no way that they could just break after 1 and a half days of riding! and i dont even do crazy tricks!

I'm guessing you dented your edge on the tip on a rail. Companies won't warranty for rail damage.

Dude you damaged your skis, it was your bad, just be happy that Line is even considering replacing them for your mistake. I'm pretty sure the skis were designed for taking impacts to the base not the nose of the ski.

yeah i know they arent tanks, but these were supposed to withstand a pretty high level of abuse. and those skis were my babies. i put all my money into those skis and px12s and i think i should have just gone with the px12s and some ar6's or something. i really hope they have a good warranty policy, because i kinda need new skis badly. and i am more frustrated with them than anything. my first big ski purchase turns out to be a no go. :(

first things first, you bought a pricepoint ski thats made in china, what did you expect?

secondly, why would you warrantee a ski that has damage that will not affect riding, none the less in the middle of the holiday season?

all i saw was a wall of text where you tried to blame line for your problems.

yeah, i didnt realize they were made in china. and i didnt want any more of the edge to start to rip off of the ski, but i see your point. i should have been a little easier on line when i wrote the thread. but the least they could do is shoot me an email that says we are workin on it. really, all i want is either my broken skis back or new ones. i just want this all to be over with

When I bought my Afterbangs, I expected a lot and I got what I expected..... So i don't know wtf you're saying.

OP, if you damaged your ski on the front of the box , what would you like line to do about it? They cant give out skis to everyone who "claims" that it wasn't their fault. I would be frustrated as well, but in the end, if its my fault, its my fault. GL

you dont have to do crazy tricks to get unlucky and fuck up hitting a box. shit happens. its not lines fault or yours. ya they havent come through with their warranty very well but they probably have a high volume of returns and other shit from christmas season. call them again. be a bitch and kick it up the line if you have to. if youre persistent they will listen to you

warrantys and returns can take a while to process. don't be a dick when you call them. if anything try to be super polite. in fact, send them a box of home made cookies with a nice note. they probably would expedite your claim and even hook you up with some swag for being such a kind gent.

being a whiny bitch on ns doesn't really help your cause.

couldnt have said it better myself. i ski on 07 el reys and they have taken so much abuse and keep on going. i dont plan on buying a ski that isnt an armada in the future.

Line does advertise almost solely that the Afterbang is this jib ski that will take abuse, but really if you want a bombproof ski you are going to have to go with a better ski. Straight from there website "our bombproof Skate Deck™". And watch there the video on there website.

Call Line, say you just want the skis back as is and don't be a douche when you talk to them. You come off as a douche, so work on that before you call them.

Then it's as simple as epoxy + c-clamps for a day or so. You could try a couple small bolts or rivets or wrapping it in duct tape but a good marine grade epoxy should do the trick alone. I've epoxied many skis and used bolts on a few that completely delamed with complete satisfaction.

Also, you were trying to warranty ski damaged that was 100% due to you not Line, what did you expect?
