Being a loyal salomon skiier, as i have been since the creation and release of their 1080 model, i was very excited about seeing the official pictures of the new twin tip line up. I mean i have seen them at various competitions and also in sneak cam shots, but still didnt see the official postings until they were shown on newschoolers. Anticipating something great, i was very dissapointed. As i have noticed, over the past few years, salomon keeps trying the blend the 1080 into an all mountain ski as well as a park ski. This i think was a mistake for the entire concept of the 1080 was conceived as strictly a park ski. This mistake shows in the pictures of the new models. When i first looked at them, i noticed the width and other various features of the ski. Wehn i first saw the width, i was very surprised. It looked as if they had created a solid all mountain ski and just flipped up the tails a bit. This obviously isnt enough to cause me to turn my back on salomon for it is the greatest company on earth, but it is discouraging. I think that Salomon, being the worldwide giant franchise that it is, is somewhat ignoring their own products. This is why i give some credit to line. They are the only company i know of that is soplely dedicated to park skiing and nothing else, and i think this is where other companies are weak.
