I know i've been bitching about this alot, i made a thread in the donators forum expecting someone high up to check it out and that has appeared to have failed, so i turn to site discussion, again.


The new generation of NS expects to see the cool edits in the forum. Because of this, not only does it encourage people who make sick edits to post them in the forum but then everyone and their mother think its okay to post their video in the forum.


This is causing the video section to die. video are getting substantially lower views than they used to, compared to even a year or two ago. this is because people don't look at the video section anymore and were on a slippery slope for it to turn into the photo section, which is dead as abe lincoln.

I propose we completely revamp the video section (im sure you guys are on it because you always are) to the standards people want and completely do away with people post edits int he forum, even if they are "sick" or "super pro" because if kids wanna see sick edits they shouldn't be in the mindset of "oh they'll get posted in the forum" they should be looking at the video section, even 2 years ago i feel like the video section got 10 times the traffic it gets now. i remember in high school id check top rated every day, now videos arent even in the video section anymore....

There aren't "too many videos" being posted, every time i post a video its on the front page of videos for a solid day, if not longer. Thats not alot. if you lazy kids actually looked at the video section, youd realize this.


"if this wasn't posted in the forum, i probably wouldn't have seen it" this is a phrase we need to eliminate. Look at the video section! its fucking sick and people post tons of new videos a day! hate or love its all good.

Please NS, use the video section.

that some day we will deal with this issue.

With everything based in code though, release dates are extremely flexible.... henceforth this fix not getting launched about 2 years ago. :)

eHeath is right though - look in the video section its rad.

NSTV channels are pretty cool too. Honestly if you're looking for the top rated vids check NSTV Channel #1.

Prime example of the problem.


hornbeck video that windells posted. even with orange name and a big name like hornbeck, this video went unnoticed geting 12 ratings and under 2000 views in about 3 weeks now...

Wow, you're absolutely right. I've noticed that I too have started to stick to the forums more since they are filled with so many videos. I never saw that one.

Well said and I fully agree. Back in the day even shitty edits by no names would get 15 comments. Now, people are lucky if they get 5.

I've seen a number of posts recently in which people are asking where Callum Pettit is, has he been skiing, is he not as good as his brother, etc. If people looked in the video section they would know.

I feel as though the content just isn't great. I like to watch well put to get edits with either decent skiing or good editing, but all I find in the vid section lately is like 10 second clips of somebody doing a k-fed or front 4 out? I don't want to see that shit so I never really visit it.
There is some good stuff in there that I will watch and rate or comment and it doesn't have to be an orange name or pro just something decent to watch.

I think if the quality of video posted goes up people would go back plus an easier way to search the vids would be a lot better.

yea you lil fucker,,(jokes)  But i completly agree with this well written argument, i have noticed this also and i havent even been on NS that long...., videos nowdays get like 20 comments/ratings tops that are really dope and deseve more. The last video that got the credit that it deserved by my knowledge is the Dale Talkington Spring Edit, has sooo many ratings and comments.

also another thing: the 30seconds advertisement i have to watch everytime i visit the video section is annoying as hell!

I completely agree. This one time I posted a video on the video section and someone flamed me because it was already posted on ski gabber. The video section is the place to upload videos, that's why it's called the "video" section.

i agree completely
by kids posting vids in teh forums it just encourages it more.

i have vids from two years ago that got thousands of views right off the bat and quite frankly they sucked and now i upload edits that are atleast what i think halfway decent and can barely get a few hundred views after a week.

i think videos are all right in regional or cult forums, but they definitely should stay out of the main forums. the video section is definitely dying and although i've only been here since '07 i even notice how little traffic it gets these days.

i totally agree. my brother posted a video like a week ago and it has all 10.00 ratings but not enough for he top rated page. and now that its not on the first page of latest videos no one looks at it so its dead instead of being on top rated

People should definitely rate more.. it wasnt a sick edit or anything but I put up a video of my friends 80 foot superman front yesterday and its already got 2100 views but only 31 ratings.. hmmm

one idea i thought of is making the preview picture bigger kinda like the way it is in the pictures section. and when you scroll over it, it selects and shows random frames from the video (kinda like porn sites) that way you can preview the vid and better decide whether or not you want to watch it.

That's not fair. You don't know that there isn't a thread going on the mod forum discussing this very issue. Finding a common ground is the hard part. So yes, we are addressing the problem. Don't think we are ignoring you.

Delete the threads and let the member know they need to post the video in the video section.  Ya it will be tedious at first, but people will begin to pick up on the process quickly.  That is a solution that could be implemented immediately.
