Steal a handrail from a construction site
See if your mountain has any old ones
Buy a few of those skate ones and weld them together

The cheapest flat I've found is $325... just make one out of pvc and wood. Works excellently.

well you could go buy the cheapest ones which are still like $485 for a good one or you could get off your ass and make one like everyone else.

Ok. For the rail your going to need 3 eight foot long pressure treated 2x4's, and 3 one inch 8 foot PVC pipes. First, take the PVC pipes and place them on one 2x4. Drill through the bottom of the 2x4 into the PVC. this will be your rail. With your other 2x4 create 3 legs and a horizontal beam for each leg. Then, with the remaining 2x4, attach all three legs to the 2x4 by the side of the legs, leaving the top of each leg untouched. The place the rail onto the top of the legs and attach with screws. Make sure it is sturdy before you use it.
