Fucked sideways by line skis

or rather, i don't exactly know who to blame.

it all started in early november 2010, when i ordered a pair of abangs from an online shop in finland, called skishop.com. At first they were supposed to get the skis by week 46 or something, cant remember exactly. then the date was pushed back, and pushed back, untill i got a mail from the shop today, 11th of january. now theire saying that they wont get the skis at all. the only two norwegian shops i've been able to find are now all sold out of 177's. so now I'm stuck with a broken pair of 09 invaders, and havent gotten my cash back either.

to the shops defence, they've blamed the delay on snow storms and stuff, but come on. Its northern Europe. it's not like we haven't seen snow before.

so now I have to wait at least another week to get my cash back, then I have to find another shop that has the skis, probably outside of norway, which mean that I wont get my skis for at least 2 or 3 weeks.

sounds like you were fucked by the shop and not Line...Why don't you order from a reputable source with faster shipping?I mean 46 weeks to get a pair of skis is excessive.

we're in a new year now, so its more like 9 or 10 weeks. I actually got this shop reccomended from a few friends that ordered skis from them last year, and got them a couple of days later without any problems at all

he didn't say the shipping would take 46 weeks, he said he was told they would arrive in week NUMBER 46.

And ordering skis from "reputable sources" (american/canadian online stores) sucks ass. Shipping takes forever, and customs will do their best to fuck you over.

if you paid credit card or paypal ; file an issue with your credit card or paypal NOW. sometimes you only get a month to file a case, and after that it's dead water. call them asap!

wasnt an option, theire not sold in local shops in norway, and the only two online shops that sold em, only had marker griffons.

Completely the shops fault. How you are trying to pin ANY blame on Line behooves me.

The shop was selling product that they did not have ANY inventory of.

I'll sell you a pair of skis from this model year that were produced many months prior. I don't have them in my possession, but you have to trust me, I will ship it to you in one week...

I would change the title, if the shop can't handle a JIT inventory system, then they should be hung to dry, not Line.

yup, it's called pre-ordering. and the thing is that this actually is line skis fault, as they have a resposibility to be able to deliver the products the said they would. the shop wouldn't start selling the skis without buying them from line first. im not saying that i want to pin this on line skis, as I havent had anything bad to say about them before this. ive been skiing on their skis for the last 3 or 4 years, and couldnt be happier with them. but this is a fuckup made by line, not the shop.

^i think there's a valid point here...if the shop genuinely was supposed to receive a product, it's the manufacturers fault for not following through as planed.

I got a funny feeling this shop is lying to you. Because Line is owned by K2, and they have an excellent logistics system, I doubt they made such a big mistake.

I'll be honest... I haven't been following the Afterbang because I am not a parkrat anymore, but typically for major manufacturers, Pre-Orders are done FAR in advance of November, and skis are manufactured far in advance of that timeframe as well.

I'm with Arm on this... Me thinks the shop is lying to you. I'd be willing to guess that they oversold the quantity.

maybe the shop forgot about your order and accidentally sold out their abangs, then remembered about your order. Either way, are they hand delivering you your money that you payed for the skis? I dont get why they cant just give u a refund over the phone, it only take a minute or two.

Not sure how it is in Norway, but in Quebec, retailers accept solitary liability for the goods they sell.

They are on the hook to deliver the promised goods (and even warranty them) within a given time frame, not the manufacturer.

Think about it, if retailers were not liable, then all retailers would promise the world and would then defer the blame back to the manufacturer.

I'd agree that they oversold, and probably don't want to pay a rush shipping charge to make the client satisfied.

Where I work, we use UPS overnight express all the time (at a huge loss) to keep people happy. This shop obviously doesn't give a fuck about thread OP. Get your money back, find a shop who does.

the running out of stock seems like an option.... however, i don't know the rules either, and i wasn't aware of that...but i know that missing your delivery dates can either make or break your company in the industry and it's not unheard of for deliveries to be late, and i would imagine dealing with countries overseas can affect the given time frame for said deliveries. i somehow doubt, bulk products fly over, as opposed to arrive on boat... regardless of when orders are put it. it's not the fact, that the company didn't put their orders in say last year...they probably did. but there's a good chance, either they oversold, or never even got them. saying they never got them however, is fucking with a large company. or the large company had a set back.

i think all plights are a possibility here...but it doesn't change the fact, that he should still call a credit card company if that's how he paid, to ensure he actually gets his money back. because at this point...it doesn't matter who's fault it is, or what happened. if you ask me.



as for buying local.... i just want to point out that 90% of the time, it's still cheaper to buy online and pay delivery and duties, than to buy it in a shop here, and pay taxes. unfortunately.

I'd demand my money be refunded immediately and deal with a retailer who will actually take the time to write a somewhat professional email to a paying customer instead of some sloppy crap that appears to be written by a six year old. English as second language is not an excuse as they can't seem to operate their damned spacebar correctly, and that's not a feature unique to the english language.

There could be a little bit of both at fault here. A company's distribution schedule is based on order/shipping preference. For example, we Atomic gave priority to the USA this year and shipped to the USA on time. Europe, however, was actually late receiving their product. That was our fault because we chose to give priority to the USA, not Europe. But, the shop is also at fault here for handling this situation in a piss poor manner.

So the fact that K2/Line didn't ship things on time to Norway is totally plausible. But it is also the case that your shop didn't handle their end very well.

I didn't read the responses to your thread but if you're planning on getting your abangs outside of Finland I can recommend you to order them at Sport-Conrad in Germany besides that they're pretty cheap, they have an avarage delivery time of within 5 days. I live in the Netherlands , got them 2 days after they recieved the money. felt good man.
