Wow wait.... wait!
There are two surfaces you can tune first the sidewall edge that is what the 85 is for....you can put an acute angle to give you more bite on hard surfaces, but it also makes the edge more prone to nicks and may feel hooky. Start with 90 then progress to be sure.
Now the base edge...this one requires more attention because if you put to much of an angle you will require a stone grind to get it back to 90. Most people will remove 0.5 and 1.0 degrees (beginners go up to 2.0 degrees), so start with 0.5....then progress if it feels too hooky...remember the less you remove the quicker the edge will grab, the more you take off the more it will slide......
I hope you have a gummy stone for detuning. Alot of people, again it is personal preference so make gradual adjustments, like to detune the tips a bit to make it easier to turn. just hit the contact points on the tips of the skis a little with a gummy stone voila....
Remember that new tool is very handy but everytime you remove material from your edges it makes them smaller in dimension and reduces their life span so take it really easy because you can wreck your skis.....caution.
