Yesterday i broke my collar bone trying a flat 5. i hear its about a month recovery but when im on the slopes again, im unsure where i'll get my confidence back cause right now im a little freaked out. any help?
I don't really know, but I broke mine a month ago and just went skiing for the first time yesterday. I didn't do park or anything because I'm not supposed to yet but you'll be back out there sooner than you think.
i broke my leg and tore my mcl when my leg got caught under a rail with no coping, and smacked the support and tweaked the fuck out of my leg. im prob out for most of this season, but like was said LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR. When im back skiing im gonna take it easy and strengthen up my body and mind.
I broke my collarbone end of last January. My season was pooched. By the time it had full range of motion and felt strong enough to fall, on all the snow was gone. I suggest you drink a lot of milk, rail lines of protein powder and get pity blow jobs
Just know that a lot of the time, at least according to what I was told when I broke my collarbone, it heals stronger than what it was before you broke it. Know that you shouldn't worry too much about it. Just have fun though, try not to think much about it.
Snapped mine in the summer, 6 week recovery. It sucked but i at least made my mom feel enough pity for me to buy me an xbox. Sure it was a bitch move, do i regret it... not one bit. Played fucking kung fu panda while i was on the vicodin the doc gave me. It was quite amusing.
take your time. i broke mine, waited until the doctors OK, went skiing, and rebroke it that first day back. didnt go to doctor, splinted it on my own for a week or two, and now i have an impending shoulder surgery where they slice you open, break it all to shit, and pin it back together.
You got pain meds?! I broke mine in August from a car crash and the first fall I took on it was about 9 weeks later off a longboard and it was fine, a little sore but it held. I would give it atleast 8 weeks and even then no park. Its not worth re-breaking it again, such a bitch of a bone.
i got rid of mine after like a week and a half
youl be able to tell when
my doctor said they dont really do anything after a week and just wear it till your comfortable without it
broke mine twice last year. still sore sometimes. definately wait a full month at least, then do some exercises, then start skiing. probably wait a while longer for park, if thats your bag.
honestly, I had vastly improved confidence after recovering from my collarbone. It made me really appreciate each day on the slopes. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You love skiing, you will be fine and get back to shreddin before you know it!
i broke mine pretty bad, collarbones arent a big deal though, i was doin everything in pe normal in like a week and a half, i was running in 2 weeks, track meets in 3
it was still broken, but as long as you dont fall on it it'll be ok in 4 weeks max
You'll be skiing soon, Broke mine this summer and was working 4 weeks later carrying around a backpack. Take it easy the first couple of times to get your confidence back up. Once your at full strength you should be able to shred again. My biggest fear was hurting it again or tweaking it when I fell. After my first couple crashes of the season, I've realized that its completely fine now and it doesn't affect my confidence at all
lol it wasn't quite as bad as it looks. In the middle is a shard not a full piece of bone. I didn't get surgery because a non-specialist told me I didn't need it. I got super lucky that it healed because a specialist later told me I really really should have had surgery like instantly.
me too dudes, broke it on te 28th, just gotta take it easy man, im out till march cause i tore up my neck muscle with one half of the break, had to be all sowed up shit sucks
Yeah I didn't want to do it at all, but I'm actually really glad I did afterwards. They say only 5% of people end up getting the surgery but it actually is much better in the end, I've got a scar but no bump and my collarbone is supposed to be better than ever.
me too. but mine has been "tender" and sometimes downright painful for lets see...5 years now? but it always hurts when different weather patterns aka snow move in which is a plus.
Yeah mine was like 2 years ago and I have a fat bump on it, and it still clicks a little from time to time. No movement was lost at least, although my right shoulder does hang slightly lower than my left now.
My freshmen year of highschool I broke my collar bone doing backflips, it was stupid I was throwing them off this roller on the hill all day with no air at all...the last time I did it I didn't bring the rotation around and slammed into the ground I was out for the rest of the season (late season skiing) and it sucked.
For your confidence part, for me all I could think about was going back out the first day of the next ski season and throwing a backflip so I would have that confidence back and not think I'll get hurt...so on opening day we built a jump and I nailed it. You just have to go back out there and tell yourself you can do it, I don't know if it was your first flat 5 or your 50th but the best way to get that confidence is just do it.
I wore my sling about a week, it still hurt after, but I could get through the day. Mostly my arm was useless for a few weeks after that. You can ski whenever you want, but know that you will fuck yourself up if you fall up until 6-8 weeks from the break. I waited like 6 and it was pretty solid.
