Yeah im in highschool I have no money and I have rich ass parents who wont replace my bindings that are wrecked.

Tell them that you can't ski until your bindings are fixed or replaced?

Or get a job and buy the bindings yourself? I'm a senior in high school also, and work part time teaching tennis so I can buy all of my ski stuff.

At least you're honest about it, unlike some kids who blatantly lie about having a job when really there parents buy them all their shit, soooooooo, props for that. But really, just tell them that it's a safety hazard to ski with your bindings and if you don't replace them you may get seriously injured.

And if that doesn't work, slip daddy a roofie, sneak into his room at night, blow him, new bindings?

tell them they have two options. the first option is for them not to give you money or things, and you will live a life filled with boredom and regret until they die and you inherit all of their money and possessions. Or they could just spend that money on you now, and that way you get to live a fulfilling life of fun, and they get to be alive to watch you enjoy your money.

Use this same strategy when it comes time for you to pay back any debts you owe your parents. something along the lines of "any money I give you now, I'll just get back when you die, so lets just call this debt off, shall we?".


I mean - it's worth a try, no?

If I had a way to get to and from work I would have a job and in the summer i mow lawns I just ran outa money this year and then my bindings got screwed over. i think they may be getting them now tho and i didnt even have to tell them i was on drugs.

Offer to help out around the house with chores/cleaning etc. to pay them off, usually worked for me when I was in high school.

If you get a job maybe they'll give you the money for them with a promise you'll pay them back after your first paycheck.  I used to do that with my parents. 

I bought my 1st motorcycle when I was a senior in high school.  But I've been working since I was 14 and enlisted at 17 and now at 22 I can afford pretty much everything I need.  Work hard, hold as little debt as possible and it will pay off in the long run.

I got my first set up when I was 17 as a present from my entire family, which was awesome that my parents could coordinate that.  So I've never needed to talk them into buying me ski related stuff.  However when I do need money for something, and let me stress NEED, I ask my mother with a plan to pay her back ( I'm 23 and in college, which I pay for entirely by myself ),  such as if I need to borrow 1000$ for food and rent til my paychecks come through, I ask with the plan of paying her back 200$ a month.  Which is realistic for both me and her.  Try it, don't lie, and you'll be surprised how positive your parents will think of you.

This exactly. Normally I wouldnt condone mooching off rents, but bindings are the kind of equipment that it really is important to keep working correctly. Its like helmets. they should probably be willing to help you out on those. If I may ask, what type of bindings are you trying to get?

I either get my gear as a christmas present, a birthday present, or i buy it with my own money. buying gear at the end of the season and at ski swaps helps a lot too.

september 1st is the magic date. everything brand new from last year goes on sale. and my bindings actually were screwed, so I took my dad off a jump with me, so he could watch me pop out of my bindings and roll down the landing...


he got me new bindings.

Trade good grades for loot. My mom used to pay me $100 for A's and we weren't rich... Once you convince her this is a good idea, tell her to front you the money and you will pay her back with A's...

Good grades = scholarships which pay back big dividends to your parents. Plus bragging rights which is priceless.

I was riding the bus down the other day and heard some kid saying he worked his ass off all summer for his board then his friends said his dad bought it for him.

Do you have any old skis you dont use anymore that have bindings you could pop off and put on your current ones.
