It's been two years without skiing, thanks to school and geography. So I go up for my first day back yesterday, and I'm on the lift, solo, and the snow is gently falling diagonally across my vision. It's only -3, the iPod is playing away, and I look up through the falling snow at the upward staggering sets of chairs disappearing to the top. It is beautiful. And I think to myself, "this is all you need, right here." All the magic of the mountains, beauty, and freedom we're right in front of me, with me.
If you love gangster rap, suuper baggy, super colorful outerwear, and terrain parks, that's fine! That's a part of skiing. You have every right to enjoy that and embrace it. But please, please, do not forget the true ESSENCE of our sport as it progresses. Let's stay humble, and just get out there.
Thanks for reading if you did.
Sparknotes?? More love, less hate.
It seems people debate our sport so, so, so much, and it just gets not only lengthy and obscured (by the Internet), but worse; full of negativity. Just enjoy it for what it is. It's fun, why else would someone do it? Best not to ruin it for each other.
well all of that is true you made it sound cheezy as fuck like ur just sitting on the chairlift being oh ywa so pretty im creative so im gonna make athread on ns. skiing fuckyea
Skiing has nothing to do with embracing the mountains, or being with nature- it's about being the biggest snow gangster out... unless of course you suck at rails, then it's time to start listening to Cali P and hit some BC booters.
