Xbox Help

Yo guys recently my parents got me a samsung epic 4g phone. The reason why i got the phone was for its 3g mobile hotspot so i could use the internet for my laptop and xbox live. Does anyone know if the xbox wifi receiver will connect to the phones wifi, does anyone have any experience with this.

And second for my xbox i just recently got the RED RING OF DEATHHHHHH so my xbox is fried, so i know the whole thing of sending it in to get repaired but it would cost $110 total, and second i need to purchase a wifi receiver to hook up to the situation above involved with the hotspot, so that will cost around $60-80, so my question is would i just be better off buying the new xbox slim, cause it has the receiver built in, and its fancy, and shouldnt have any future problems. cause almost 200 dollars would go into repair of an old one and receiver, but  could spend 300 for a totally new. 

So please HALP ME? and for help ill give major karma

i was thinking about this the other day on a road trip, i was thinking how it'd be totally possible to plug in a tv using a thing i have that turns the ciggie lighter into a regular outlet + a splitter so i could plug in the tv and the sexbox, then use a mobile hotspot from a phone or whatever, and my passengers could theoretically shoot bitches online while i drive...?

but hey btw how much does it cost to use the hotspot? is there a limited plan then an unlimited plan?

well i have sprint so i have the unlimited data for the phone then the hotspot is 30 extra a month, and i guess the 4g service is unlimited but when not in a 4g area it switches to 3g and then you have a limit up to 5gb thats what i think im not exactly sure

I think Verizon's around $30, but I could be wrong. I just know that it's kinda outrageous.

Ha you guys are wayyy to fucking ambitious. OP.. go load up an internet page on your phone, then let how slowly it loads dawn on you as to how shitty playing xbox on that connection will be.

Not if you are connected to another wifi. Whatever, do your own thing. It wont be fast enough to play anything like COD online. But go for it tiny tot.

I'd go with the new xbox slim, its nicer, less likely to have problems, and like you said has the wifi built in. And its the good one built in, not the old white one with one prong that doesn't connect to shit.

yeah i would definitely get the new one the wifi adapters for the 360 are shitty as shit and the new one is gonna work like a charm might as well just drop the extra 100

before buying a new one try the towel trick on your xbox that has the red ring of death.  I think you wrap it completely in towels, turn in on for like 15 minutes and its supposed to be better, at least for a little while.  This happened to us, we got the red ring of death, ordered the new slim xbox, and after that we tried the towel trick and it worked so now we have 2 xboxes that work.  a friend of mine had his towel trick thing work for a week and then it blew out again permanently. hope this helps

im not connected to another wifi, the phone has 3g hotspot built in, im just asking to see if an xbox can connect to live using the phones hotspot, and stop being an ass

ive seen people with the 3g hotspot cards from sprint and verizon and they connect to live with average connections, but i need to know if the phone 3g hotspot is the same and how to do it, yeah id expect it to lag becaue it isnt a secure network but its my only way of internet

I'd buy a new one. Check kijiji and creigslist for people that want red ringed xboxs. Some guy bought my old red ringed xbox for 50$ because he wanted to fix it up and sell it for like a 100 or so.

I doubt the wifi is going to be good enough to play online decently, but good luck! You should be able to connect it just like any other router, but admittedly, I don't have much experience with these matters...

As for the red ring, my room mate did this fix on his and it works fine. The most expensive part is the screwdriver which is like 15-20 bucks, but once you have it you can charge your friends a few bucks to fix theirs when they break:

Wifi is fine to play on.  I've been doing it since like '01 on my original Xbox (Battlefield 2 FTW, at least back in the day).  Back then the wireless xbox component was like $100.  That was some BULLshit.

just want to let yall know that i bought the new xbox and it works fine with the mobile hotspot, a little laggy at times but hooks right up and has about a B connection

buddy, just chill with the xbox in the car.
i did tht when i was a kid... but with a ps2 and it was always shit and cluttered its just bad. imo.

Get the new xbox. They are super legit and the black finish looks sick. Plus they run a lot smoother and operate without any problems.
