i really messed up

I just found out sunday that one of my best friends growin up is gay. he told me in person and i thought he was kidding and when i realized he was serious i didnt know what to say so i was like what the fuck dont ever talk to me again..etc
but that was a spur of the moment thing, i was sorta shell shocked. i tried to talk to him today but he said im and asshole and such. He wont talk to me and i feel like shit. i dont know how he would feel because i am deff not gay. any advice.

WHOA, that would be the wierdest thing ever. I don't know what i would do if i found out if one of my friends was gay. Everything would change so much. Everything would be so strange. I don't have any advice for you but good luck man, you'll need it, You really have to think things through.

i think it's sorta funny that as soon as a REAL problem needs to be dealt with, everyone just shuts up!

just give it time d00d. The other d00d is gonna be pretty pissed for a while cuz you probably ruined his day, so just give it a bit then try and apologize or something.

that sucks. I was shocked when i found out my cousin was gay. I herd it from my mom, and was like, im never talkin to that fag, but he's still cool as hell. Gay's know your not gay. Write him a email or something saying you messed up, and all that, and how that shouldn't make a difference in your friendship. I've resolved some serious shit between ec girlfriends, friends, ect, through writing a email or something. Good luck, peace

yeah man he is a cool kid and shit too, all i thought about is, i dont know if i want him sleeping here and shit. but i realized he knows im not gay and wouldnt try anything (or at least i hope) ill have a queer spear on hand at all times..jk

as a girl i've had a couple guys tell me they're gay and it doesn't bug me at all...they're still cool as hell

Man it not worth ruining a friendship just because the guy is gay. Just cuse he likes other guys doesn't mean he is like uncontrollable and just jumps every guy he sees, he could still be a great friend even though his private life might be different. I'd definitely apologize and try to make things right if he is a true friend.

i think.. u gotta grow up in the sense that your friend, trusted you enough to tell you that he was gay... you ahve to now respect him by trusting him that he wont try anything on u. because obviously hes got some kind of a partner and doesnt need u and you weren't appart of his (for lack of a better term) becoming gay.. so why would he think anything different of you now. he knows your not gay.and he would respect that..

Tell him that you realise that you were an ass and that you are sorry, and that you feel that he has every right to be pissed off at you. Then tell him it must be a difficult time for him, and if he needs anything (support or whatever) you will be there for him, because you still consider him a really good friend. Then give him space, but I think it's important to tell him this before you give him space.

That is a tough situation you're in. I don't really have good advice for you because it has never happened to me but a friend is a friend gay or not. Maybe you could buy him one of those rainbow stickers for his car as an apology gift. jk.

I had the same situation happen to me, but I didn't react in that way and we stayed really good friends. You just have to accept him for what he is, and realize that he's just the same as he was before he told you.

Think of it this way... you were born with this birthmark on your back, something that you can do nothing about... so you keep it hidden, but finally you tell your friends, who are suddenly horrified and shun you. It shouldn't be like that- it's not like he can do anything about it, and it's a pity that some people will hate him for it. Just be cool with it and try not to think about him doing guys in the butt.

Yeah, be super careful because it was probably quite hard for him to get the courage to tell you. Just say that you're sorry for being an ass, you didn't know how to take it and reacted to quickly. Be honest and tell him how you feel. If it's gonna take you a while to get used to it then tell him that. He's probably hurt that you said that but if he's a good friend then he'll get over it if you accept him for what he has decided and respect him whether you agree with it or not.

yo guys thanks for the help i told him how i feel and hows its gonna take a while for me to get used to, he said he was just hurt because he thought i would be the one he could count on . but he is over it now is the strange part wherei have to realize that one of my good buddies is gay. i dont know how im gonna handle it but ill try
