I'm 5'5. What ski length should I be looking for?

I'm about the same height as you and really light. Usually:

160cm - 170cm is good in the park
170cm - 180cm all mountain/pow skis are fun when I don't need to spin fast
180cm+ can be fun when rockered, but can still feel heavy

Exceptionally heavy/stiff skis can throw this off.

General rule of thumb for twin-tip skis is to buy them right around your height... Obviously a little shorter or longer based on your ability and where you're going to be riding.

I'm a 5'5" female and ride 171 park skis and 176 powder skis... Although I am a competitive skier in Breck. Wouldn't need that for the Midwest.

depends alot about weight too

if you are a pretty skinny 5'5 160-165

if you are a huskier 5'5 you can probably handle 170-176

but you're 165cm tall so I'd say anywhere in that area should be good.

Uh well i'm 5'8" and i ride 178. I would recommend a 171 or 173 size ski for you. If you like them a little longer. Or if you like them shorter then the 166 would be fine. Depends on your preference.

yeah i got my skis at 164 when i was your height they felt fine.  i am now 5'8, going to be riding a 169-175(?) next year

Listen STLskier, in order to get proper help you need to give more details.

Okay so you ski fairly well...this is a good start. Do you like to ski Park? Moguls? Groomers? Trees? are you aggressive do you ski as fast as possible and huck drops? This kind of stuff will help you decide on what ski length to buy.

In addition are you 5'5" and growing, or are you a 5'5" 170lbs adult?

I'll just say I'm 5'5'' and I'm fine on 166s, although I'd ride longer symmetrical skis if I had them.

I ski just about all park and I don't always go full speed down hill. I'm 5'5 and still growing. I want to be able to rotate easily and be able to dance on rails and boxes. But I also want stability incase I do go outside the park on packed powder and such.

this. ride longuer ski than you.its harder but you dont look like someone who have little ski and can do his trick because of this.

Depending on level of experience, and geographic location..ie do you ski powder in the west or packed/icy conditions of the east? Skis now are not crafted as straight and narrow boards anymore. Lots of shape and widths. Keep them on the shorter side for more control. 150-155 is good. I'm 5'5" and ride anywhere from 160-168cm. It sort of depends on what you want to use the ski for. For big mountain and powder, I'd go a bit longer, for park, I'd stay in the shorter end, but that's just me.

Park with little rocker on skis around 160
All mountain with a decent amount of tip rocker and some tail anywhere from 170-177
Backcountry skis with insane rocker (such as JJ 2.0) 181 would be as big as you should go

Would never go shorter then a 170 on a park ski

Would never go shorter then 180 on a pow ski
