Smearing goggles

Searchbarred, couldn't find anything...

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew if i can fix my smearing goggles. Yes, i wiped the inside of the lens when they were wet and stuff, made that mistake. Is there anyway to put something on it, so I can clean it off? Or wipe off the smear?

I have crowbars if it matters..

You probably smeared the anti fog treatment. It's important with Oakley lenses to not touch the lense when it is wet

scuba diving shops and motorcycle shops sell an anti-fog solution to spray on the inside of their goggles/lenses, it's similar to rainx ....

its basically a small bottle with a spray head on top to distribute the solution...

it'll need to be reapplied regularly, but it'll work ....

Bingo, and this is true with ANY lens with an anti-fog treatment, meaning basically ALL goggles.

Lens are essentially toast. Even if you can minimize the smudging, your anti-fog is really damaged now.

I have heard good things about cat crap. But I always keep an extra pair of goggles in my bad in case the inside gets wet. I made that mistake once before too, never again.

did that same thing on my A frames and they were trash.

I have to give it to oakley they make good lenses but holy crap the things are fragile. I messed my new lense up today when i tried to clean the inside of the lense with a microfriber cloth and i pushed too hard and started peeling the thin layer of anti fog...FML third times the charm

yep, once that stuff gets smeared theres no way to fix it. It has happened to 2 oakley lenses of mine, its sooo annoying.

sorry to threadjack here, but what the hell are you supposed to do when you get water inside an oakley goggle? if you wipe, it smears. if you leave it there, it freezes and still gets permanent water spots on the inside. if you try and lightly dab with a microfiber cloth, it still messes with the coating.

^ im about to be on my third lense as well, im about to say F%$^k oakleys cause lenses are not cheep

agreed. i have a pair of scott fixes in the mail. does anyone know if scott lenses do the same thing as much as oakleys?

Yes, the Scotts are prone to the same problems...

If you get snow inside your goggle, try to knock it out and allow the water droplets to dry inside briefly.

I've followed this logic and have had a pair of A-Frames last 6 years before the foam started to break down and fall apart, now I have both Crowbars with a sunny (black Iridium) lens and A-Frames with a low light (Hi-Yellow) lens and have not had a problem with those in 3 years.

Honestly, best piece of advice...

Treat them like a $100+ piece of equipment and they will last. Treat them like a little kid treats his toys, and they will fall apart, no matter how much you paid for them.

I laugh my ass off when people are complaining about fogging and they have their goggles up on their foreheads, or around their neck. Or better yet, they have the facemask on and are essentially breathing into to goggle. No shit it's going to fog... There is no goggle that would not fog under those conditions (possibly with exception to the Turbofan series from Smith).
