Turbo cars

post what kind of car you have and whats done to it. I just want to see what people are rollin in that are turboed.

i drive an 05 dodge srt4 , with a big turbo and a few other bolt ons :)

(delta 44 w/ full supporting mods)

I def agree with you. The S4 is picky beast. Seems that a lot depends on how good of care the previous owner took of it. What did you have to have fixed? Did the KO3s go out? Timing belt? O2 sensors? Also, with your e30, you are driving an older car with a lot less tech in it. Unless you had the sweet mid 90s S4.

Not trying to pick fights. I just love my 4mo VW wagon, essentially a a6 wagon. Even after I just had to get my flex plate in my trans fixed to the tune of $1400.

My Scooby isn't boosting properly. And the turbo is smoking.

So scary going to the Subaru tech and just saying "fix it". Never come out under 500 bones. I have a feeling this could be lots more.

i had alot of tranny problems, electrical problems, o2 sensors, power steering pump went twice, and the timing belt went, luckily it was right after i had my timing belt service so it was covered under warranty.

and yeah my e30 doesnt have alot of techy stuff, but thats what makes it good. the new technology in new cars is all 99% worthless. and just makes it more expensive and a shit ton harder to fix stuff. not to mention promotes bad driving.

and yeah the 90's s4's are sweet, i kinda wish i had gotten one of those instead. i love 80's and 90's audis, from what ive heard most of them are very reliable except for a few models. i really wish they sold the rs2 in the states.
its too bad though cause audi definitely lost their touch after about 03, now basically every model is overpriced, dull and numb, and full of overcomplicated worthless electronics.

Did your pistons hit when your t-belt went? Yikes if so, good thing for that warrenty! My wagon had a cel from a break in the flex pipes before the second set of cats, hopefully getting that fixed will take care of that. Why did VW/Audi find it necessary to run 4 cats and 4 o2 sensors? f that noise. I almost got a mid 90s s6 wagon, then it sold on me. twas a sad day.

Uhmmm there are plenty full bodied STi Time Attack cars that are an inch or lower...I dont know what you've been looking at?

Not everybody buys STi's and WRX's to race, many people just want a fun, 4 door DD that looks good which is where wheels and coils then come in for them; to improve the aesthetics. They aren't looking to pull 1G turns on their freeway run to work. People buy cars for all kinds of reasons, some want to fuck up their suspension geometry because it looks good and just because they can.

I'm all for rallying and purpose built race cars, it crazy what people can do but if somebody else isn't into that and wants to go another route with their Daily Driven Subaru, let them. I don't get why so many people flip out over it. NS at least is pretty chill but if you go to any Subaru forum, (especially nasioc) you can see how angry people get over anything that isnt the Subaru "norm". Its pretty ridiculous that people can get so worked up about what somebody is doing to THEIR car that THEY paid for.

pretty much every one of those cars just has lower side skirts and bumpers. if they had the stock body i guarantee each would look quite a bit higher.

the red white and blue one and the yellow one are the only ones id consider "slammed" and as you can see they are built like crazy, probably cost well over 100 grand, and with that much of a budget and that much work, yes you could get the geometry right and have a very good handling car. being unlimited time attack cars, i wouldn't be surprised if they did a good amount of structural work to allow the suspension to work at that low of a ride height. and still, your typical "slammed" car is atleast that low.

i know im an ass about cars, i have no problem admitting that. but ive seen more ass holes and tools in the whole stanced scene than anywhere else. and ive yet to find one who knows what he's talking about. its hard for me to respect people that spend money on an already expensive car, to make it drive worse, just so they can look cool and be seen.

But in reality, you can rice any car. I've seen some fugly Subarus.

The difference is you have to be a real idiot to fuck up a Subaru, where on a Civic you have to be a genius not to.

i've never personally seen a riced out wrx or sti. unless you call having a 3in catback rice...

Had a rhd 180sx with ca18, then a 240 with sr20. Sold both because of school. In May I'll be looking for a fun all year round car. sti's are going to be out of the price range but if anyone has some ideas lemme know lol

matte black grille
smoked out tail lights
had a 1.2" drop at one point
stage 1 APR software: 290 wtq and 230 whp
LED turnsignals
LED parking lights
6000k HID lowbeams
6000k LED running lights
im prob forgetting some stuff.. but yeah

picking up a b5 s4 or e36 m3 as soon as i sell my land rover

ive seen plenty of riced out wrx's and sti's. usually not super bad but definitely riced out. ricey lights, wings, huge ugly wheels, body kits, a couple slammed ones, and i see plenty with huge ass cans.

oh believe me, if i could afford a 17k e30 M3 i would in a heartbeat. even over an e46 m3. but the e36 is very reliable so im gonna go with that. definitly leaning towards the m3 over the s4 too

yea its pretty hard to find one thats gonna be reliable for under 14-15. but they are easily the best M3. the e36 is awesome though. definitely the second best. i would never buy an e46 m3 considering its more expensive than both the e30 and e36 and a much worse car. having driven all 3, i can definitely say that the e36 is an extremely good car. ive owned an s4 and the M3 is better in every way.

its heavy, too numb feeling for an M, full of useless electronics, just doesn't drive how an M3 should. you really just have to drive it to understand. if i were looking for a real M car,id go with an e30 M3 i wouldnt go newer than the e36 m3. after that the cars became too focused on being comfortable, convenient, easy to drive/use, etc... the e30 and e36 are both amazing pure sports cars that happen to have a pretty nice interior. after that they are practical luxury cars that happen to be fast.

plus with the e39 m5 being available for pretty much the same price, i really see no reason at all to buy an e46 m3. the M5 does the whole luxory/practicality thing better than the m3, while being a much better, extremely well built solid ass sports car.

awd is pretty useless in most driving situations...for the average person on this site...they do not need awd 90% of the time. And for the other 10%, im sure it wouldnt kill them to wait a few hours, or use another car if they have that option. Im not saying this is for everyone, but most people. Personally, i would never give up the fun of a rwd car for awd. If it is snowing out that hard chances are wherever i want to go is not open or to snowy to get to regardless of awd.

rwd is easily just as much fun, its just different, if you have legit snow tires you can do extremely well. ive driven RWD cars through almost two feet of snow without getting close to getting stuck.
RWD drifting in snow is awesome, AWD is sweet too, but RWD can be more fun in alot of cases.

personally id easily use an m3 as my ski car :)

sorry but I enjoy blasting through snow at stupid speeds - and who says awd cars arent fun- you can certainly push them harder with more confidence, and when it gets shitty out to a certain point you dont have to worry about staying home- and the greatest part is that most performance awd cars or 4wd- quattro is 4wd not awd- you can chnage out the software controlling the biases or in the case oq quattro make our car 80-20 rear front with a stasis center diff

trust me not knocking rwd- raced kart for 6 years and have driven more cars than anyone on this site

just that on a day to day basis awd is much more suitable for more power

nope, it was up to the headlights on an e30. couldnt have been less that 1 1/2 feet. and it was getting along fine, it had some super gnarly snow tires. it was stock ride height, which probably helped.
