Im just wondering for those of you that have been there, is windells worth the money?

ive heard good and bad things about it, so, yeah.

what do you think?

One of the best weeks of my life... that was in like 2001 though and I was like 15.... still wish I could go back though. Anyone done the adult program there?

If 2 grand is pocket money for you then ya go but there's definitely better stuff you could buy skiing wise such as a cat trip or even just a trip up to Whistler or Colorado or some shit.

Windells is sick but the park isn't really any better then the average park with the exception of the big jump, that thing was dope.

if it's 2k just learn to rollerblade, go to woodward, and ski during the instruction time and blade the rest of the time

yeah its ridiculously expensive. i got hooked up with a free session, but i dont think it would be worth it to pay for it.

it was easily one of the best weeks ive ever had, for skiing improvement and fun. the camp is sick cause theres stuff happening all day from 7 am till 10 pm. if you have a ton of money to burn, go for it. but there are better alternatives

hmmmm well this is highly debatable...because it was one of the more fun parks i've shredded. and it's IN THE SUMMER, do you realize how hard it is to build a park IN THE SUMMER?

windell's is pretty much the coolest place to go for a summer vacation, or even any ski camp. they're all awesome.

I think i'm going this year all of the kids that i know who have gone have been really nice, chill people but, there has to be dicks that go there, they're everywhere just a part of life.

soo much fun, if you have a chance to go, take it. sure there might be a few dicks there, but the amount of chill kids there is waaayyyyy greater than the douches.

Just saying its 2000$ PLUS A PLANE TICKET so if you live in maine for example your looking at a 400dollar ticket round trip.

If money is a problem go to Mount Hood Summer Ski Camp. It is sooo much fun and for a cheaper price. 1k.

buy a timberline pass for 900 and use the rest of the money you would spend on camp to live for a month and camp somewhere. way more skiing however you dont get to get coached by someone that really knows their shit

haha their ads and website are retarded. It's nothing like windells with their bag jump, on campus rail yard, skatepark, foam pits, and all that. But at mhssc the coaches are cool as hell and it's super laid back. the food is AMAZING and you ski all day. The private park jumps are built super well and a pretty good size. There are racer chicks staying in the same complex as you (coho if you are over 15 I think). Something really cool that you get to do after skiing is go into government camp and chill in there. It's mad fun. Don't let their website throw you off, it was by far the most fun week of my life and I'm trying to work there next summer. Go to mhssc, you won't regret it, I promise.

ive done both MHSSC and Windells.

if you are into skateboarding/bmxing/rollerblading windells has a pretty awesome set up.

as far as the skiing windells has more rails and jumps, but MHSSC has a handful of really fun rails and a killer jump line

i'd say the major selling point of windells is the rope tow, you can hot lap like crazy.

MHSSC is situated between the two lifts so if you want to hit things alot you have to hike, but its super fun to do big laps, where you ski the snowfield to MHSSC park to Public Park.

MHSSC is definatly more laid back you could go anywhere on the mountain whenever you wanted whereas windells you can't leave their park without a coach.

another plus of MHSSC is racer girls and hanging out in govy. govy is pretty fun little town and if you have friends who are at hood at the same time you can hang out with them.

at windells you will never go to govy because they don't want people to see high cascade.

both are awesome in their own ways but MHSSC is half the price.

It wasnt 2 grand when I went this summer. It was 1600 or 1700 and with everything it came in at under two grand. And I drove from alberta.

With that out of the way. The camp was great, everyone in my group was so nice and chills, and I'm still friends with them. Even the guys throwing dubs were pretty chill. That being said there were some 10 year old snowboarder kid who was a huge tool.

The only beef I had with windells was the fact that the airbag was set up in the halfpipe, and if you wanted to hit a jump into it you got one hit and it was closed. My coach was Collin Collins and he was one of the dopest, smoothest rider, and one of the most chill guys I've ever met.

I'm not trying to put down MHSSC, as I've never been there (and I'm sure it's great), but Windells was great, and anyone who says its terrible (like I've seen some say on NS) is lying or just expecting bad, so bad comes of their trip.

This being said, I was in the adult camp and we had the privilege of leaving and whatnot, we went to Portland and we had a sushi dinner one night, and it was rad. We still got to ski with everyone else, too.

yes, windells is expensive. 1900+travel expenses if you go to a prime session.

but it is such an awesome experience. It was definately the highlight of my summer and I had a pretty sick summer. And of course, you will learn a lot whether it be a new trick or improve on style.

and If the cost is too much MHSSC is a way cheaper alternative.

Fortunately, I live in seattle so driving is an option. No travel expenses. But still, 1900 is a lottttttt.

Yes stuff is expensive there for sure. I think last summer ranged from 1600-2000 depending upon the time of summer you went. Obviously session 1 2 and 3 and 7are a little bit cheaper because who knows the snowfall by then. Looking at Hoods snow fall so far...it looks like they are going to have a crap ton of snow throughout the summer to be able to at least not boot pack out till session 6 (that is a speculation though). Whoever said their park is mediocre... I saw kids improve so much within a week so it is really what you put into it (this really is not a point of logic at all but if the park is so mediocre why do upcoming pros and pros ride there...or even land triples within the park? It is probably because the park is awesome and super fun). Plus the park crew busts their asses off to make sure it is legit. As far as the bag jump being open only on the half pipe, sadly that is scheduling conflicts with the US Olympic Snowboard team.

what you put into windells is what you get out of it. they have the resources for every type of progression and coaches who are more than willing to help. if you can afford it, it can be the greatest experience of your skiing career in terms of trick progression. start saving.

I went to Windells at age 18 last summer. Went w/ brother & cousin & friend and since they were under 18 I decided to stay with them on campus.

I was looking forward to it/saving for quite a few years, and I finally got to do it, so in that respect it was really good to experience it while I was still young.

First off I'll discuss the people. I felt like it would be really hard to do by yourself. I feel weird saying that, considering I had made it through a year of college already fine without going in knowing anybody. But I don't know. I just felt like the kids who went with their friends hung out with their friends the whole time (myself included). Along with this, I also felt kind of old being there.

A lot of the kids are cool, but a lot are rich and their parents payed for multiple sessions.

Next, the coaching. The coaches are really cool. They'll teach you what you're trying to learn and won't ever get pissed or anything, but don't be let down if you don't learn much. I went in with realistic expectations for myself and didn't meet them. That's not the fault of the coaching, it's the fault of my ability.

Then the park. The jumps were nice. The rails -- ehh. I was expecting better.

Overall there is a lot to do and something to try when you're young. You have to get up at like 6:00 every day though, which makes the whole experience really tiring.

I wouldn't go back. Just because of three main things: too expensive, too tiring, and too young of a vibe. But it was a good experience.

Windells is honestly so much fun.

I seriously wish that I had enough money to go back at some point in highschool, it's amazing. I feel like being a camper there would be the best possible vacation for a kid who's stoked on skiing.
