Revelstoke Park?

I'm heading to Revy on feb. I'm aiming this resort to do powder of course, but it seems that this year (so far) isn't a very good year. I know it can change, but if not it would be cool if they have a park. On the website it says nothing, so I guess if they have one it's very small.

Do someone know if they have or if they going to have a park this year?

I doubt they have one.
And if they did, it'd be something like Kicking Horse's, couple boxes and a little jump.

Not worth your time unless it's on the way down.
If I were you though, I'd go explore, you don't need just powder to enjoy your self at Revy. Go find some little drops and jib around the mountain.

Last year they had no park when I was there, highly doubt they would be setting one up this year. There will still be plenty of powder around, just might have to take your skis off.

silverstar (which i believe is around a 2 hour drive ) has a decently good, telus terrain park.

nomatter the type of year revelstoke is having, powder or not, you will have endless terrain to entertain yourself without a fucking park.

definitely no park here. and I wouldn't say we're having a bad season, although alot of storms are missing us there's still decent coverage, not many rock or stumps in the trees. all those christmas breakers packed down the base and found all the rocks so we're primed for another dump. went up today and it's mostly tracked, some chopped powder in greely bowl and south bowl.

lets just say that I went to Revy last year in the middle of a horrible snow cycle and found stuff to fall off of with soft landings.

If you are going to Revy and want park, well, you should probably never go there. If you have some skills, willing to walk a bit, and are adventurous... you will have an amazing time at Revy.

On a side note - if you have the gear, and Revy isn't panning out for you, Rogers Pass is just down the road, and with a bit of knowhow and schmozing (sp?) you're wildest dreams can come true at the pass.

*disclaimer* i didn't read the op or the following posts... based on the thread title alone, i posted my opinion. bottom line - reyy doesn't have a park. revy doesn't need a park (but a bit of thinning in the trees would help), and I am drunk.

your thoughts?

by the way there's 3 days of snow in the forecast starting tomorrow night. 15-20cm on wednesday, hopefully the forecast is right for once. or wrong and it's 15-20 inches

Nope, revelstoke doesn't do a park. I heard that it got bought out by a more real-estate developing company than a ski-centered one, so the development of the actual mountain has slowed right down. No park in the forseeable future, though if they want to attract families with teenagers who aren't able to ski out of the park they will probably have to build one some time.

Like everyone's said, revelstoke doesn't need a park. I've been up there for a trip every year since the new mountain opened, and without fail they are some of the best days I've had in my life. Steep lines, pillows, cliffs, trees, bowls. Revy's got it. If it hasn't snowed in a while, you just have to look a little harder.

Sounds like they want to turn it into a "resort", as opposed to a "ski hill". Same thing happened to Kicking Horse, they put so much money into real estate development, plus they want to add another golf course (that'll be two courses on the same mountain/road). When really, they should put money into things like snow making (even though that is an issue with there being only one natural water source near the bottom), along with maintaining trails, grooming and lift development.

Just got back from Revelstoke yesterday. Needless to say it was wicked awesome. No they do not have a park. With the terrain they have going there you won't need one to enjoy yourself.

Thanks for all your Answers. No I don't go there for park, obviously, I'm just freaking about snow, because I went to utah last year and I got punked, no snow except in the backcountry but after three days it was all tracked.

Someone spoke about a 'roger pass' whats that?
Please write in simple english, my english is kinda bad..

We are planning to go there early feb by car, from quebec, so if some of you guys want to meet some quebec-dudes and show us the sweet spots it would be awesome! And we do love hiking.

I've heard about the storm, how was it? Alot of new snow?

i love revelstoke. my dad goes there every weekend pretty much. and somtimes i tag along and ski RMR one day and boulder ( take a snowmobile) and build a nice kicker on boulder and its the funnest times ever.

Welcome to the reality of developing a ski resort. Do you really think that a resort the size of RMR could be funded exclusively by lift ticket sales? Either way...

They're adding a new chairlift next year. They have not focused priorities off-mountain. In fact, one could argue that they've focused them back to the mountain due to the ongoing financial crisis. They've been improving trails, customer service, and on-mountain services. And let's not forget that RMR is still only three years old. It's doing quite well given the global economic crisis. Really.

OP: Don't worry about snow. La Nina. Typically excellent for the B.C. Rockies and the Northwest United States, it is expected to deliver. A blocking ridge over the Gulf of Alaska will soon mean a trough or series of troughs in the West. Again, do not worry about weather. Revy is big enough to find stashes days after a storm. And it looks like we're entering a snowier and better overall pattern.

We got 55cm in 48 hours by this morning, another 9cm during the day, and forecast 10-15 tonight. We were forecast 10-15 last night, and got 18, so go figure. It's pretty sweet out here right now.

Rogers Pass is probably the road you'll be taking to get into Revy if you're coming from the East. It's a tight mountain pass which is often blocked by bad road conditions, but offers access to some of the best BC skiing in Western Canada.
