Hello everyone, i have recently realized that there are to many GoPro threads lately as so many people have been purchasing them. I would like to clean up gear talk and ski gabber with this thread.

This thread is here for everyone to post any questions about their camera. You can post concerns or problems here too, and i am sure at some point your question will be answered by myself or another GoPro expert. you may also post a 'Found GoPro Mammoth' type of thing in here though a thread itself may be helpful to the person looking for it rather than feeding through this thread.

Ill start out with some basics and FAQ's for people:

  14. How can I purchase the USB wall or car charge adapter?
  15. Where can I find the firmware update for the HD HERO camera to add the UP/UPd options to the settings menu?

  19. What is the rubber plug included in the small bag of accessories for?

hey everyone hope someone can help me. today i was filming with my gopro at 720p, 60fps and when i got home i imported the files into imovie and then those files to final cut express (whenever i try to import into final cut directly it never works). problem is, when i play back the clips quite a large part is missing from the end of the clip and it misses the tricks i actually want to get. help me please!

Ok, just a quick tip, even though I dont own a gopro yet.

If you are going to ski trees with it, make a damn leash for it. I have heard so many people loosing it because a branch knocked it out of the mount.

My mate's GoPro came off his helmet the other night, we spent quite a while searching through 10-15cm of chop. It's still MIA. The culprit was a Bern in matte white.

it's not only the surface type that conclusive for the mount,
you must also make sure that all grease is removed off the surface before applying the mount at room-temperature, and make sure the mount makes optimal contact (ie use the curved mount and look around a bit to find a spot where the mount has optimal surface contact !)

i used a drop of whitespirit thinner to clean a small square on my helmet, it also removed the clear shiny varnish on that part, but at least i was sure i got a sturdy mounting spot!

so far i've been slapped by treebranches, fallen on my head on airbags and went tumbling in the pow and its still going strong !

My gopro 1080 arrived friday and i immediatley began shooting test footage. However, there seems to be some sort of defect with the lens.

notice that to the left of the direct center of the video playback is a constant black circle. It is hard to see over dark objects but you can clearly see it against the white tablecloth. I seriously doubt that it is some sort of smudge due to the perfect circle appearance. However, I still cleaned the lens with a microfiber cloth a number of times. Any thoughts? should I ask for a return? I know that it's not extremely significant but it's brand new..

Oh yeah, i'm shooting on the default 960p

i have. and theres tonnes of space. gopro emailed me back and told me that the files are not compatible with final cut but i figured out that if you just save the files on your computer you can import them to final cut and it works fine

That might be why theres a problem... I bet they know what they're talking about. Use streamclip, it's free and easy

is it normal of when i put my gopro on the computer and see the video on my computer, directly on the document.... the video lagg x 100000000000000000!?

Yeah, it's because watching it over USB is really slow. Copy all the files over to you computer and it should be fine

You have to upload the 60 fps into iphoto first then transfer it into imovie. Imovie won't take the files, it took me a year to figure this out. It's the biggest pain in the ass and it takes forever, but it's the only way to upload that type of footage.

if you have the new firmware, print off a copy of that and put it in the bag you keep your gopro in so that you can see what all of the settings are and how to change them.

Yesterday i was going to make a test edit with my gopro. So i made a 2 min edit with some magic bullet looks in vegas and it took 2 HOURS to render it. Do i need to to something special to make it use shorter time to render?

Don't know were to post and didn't want do make a new thread, but i hope someone can help me here.

Hi, just got my gopro but when i insert the memory card, its doesnt show 3 zero instead its showing 3 dash. i format the card and try several other card, that i have but its still showing 3 dash. im using kingston class 4 16gb by the way. anyone knows the solution to this?

i dont use it but it does help... it just stops the quick release from rattling in the mount

Sometimes my GoPro will say it has full battery and then it will randomly shut off and say no battery. This is usually after a full nights charging as well. I read somewhere that "hidden" files may be causing this but i can't seem to find that website anymore. If anyone knows a possible solution it would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone else's GoPro battery go flat when you haven't used it in a while? I fully charged mine, left it in my backpack for a week, went to use it and the battery lasted maybe 5 mins...

i've never had this happen to this degree. but my gopro does lose a substantial amount of battery if left in a cold place.

i just broke the closure on my gopro, luckily it happened while changing batteries, also got quite lucky it happened during a contest sponsored by gopro so i immediately got a new one :)
too bad i didn't get it free, that'd have been sick !
